This nun is on fire: the amazing performance everyone is talking about 2016-09-30T15:57:03-04:00 Deacon Greg Kandra

Behold, the nun who is rocking “The Voice” in Italy:

A singing, swaying, amazing nun stunned judges in a recent performance on “The Voice of Italy.” Video of 25-year-old Sister Cristina Scuccia has gone viral on YouTube, and it’s a clip that needs no translation.

The judges/coaches on the reality singing competition have their backs to her. Rotating one’s chair means you’re interested in having a singer on your team. As Scuccia gives a top-tier performance of “No One” by Alicia Keys, the first judge turns his chair, and his mouth drops open.

The “Voice of Italy” describes the contestant this way: “Her childhood dream was to become a singer, in 2008 the Orsolina Sisters organize a music hall in which she finds herself by chance. A non-believer, and against the Church … she instead finds Love.”

The lyrics to “No One” speak of a love no one can stop—and it’s not much of a leap to interpret this song of devotion being directed to God:

I just want you close
Where you can stay forever
You can be sure
That it will only get better

You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don’t worry ’cause
Everything’s going to be alright
People keep talking they can say what they like
But all I know is everything’s going to be alright

No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I’m feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

When the rain is pouring down
And my heart is hurting
You will always be around
This I know for certain

You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don’t worry ’cause
Everything’s going to be alright
People keep talking they can say what they like
But all I know is everything’s going to be alright

No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I’m feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you
Can get in the way of what I feel

I know some people search the world
To find something like what we have
I know people will try, try to divide, something so real
So till the end of time I’m telling you there ain’t no one

No one, no one
Can get in the way of what I’m feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

UPDATE: Not everyone is impressed:

This is utterly scandalous, indecent, immodest, and sacrilegious. Having been fed nothing but Modernist pseudo-Catholic theology for the last 50+ years, Novus Ordos may not think too much of this and even believe this to be “cool” and “awesome”, simply another great new way for Catholics to “reach out” to the world. This is the garbage people have been fed for decades, but nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, Suor Cristina herself has said her intent is to “evangelize”, but only a fool or a hopelessly deluded person could believe that one can spread the light of the Gospel by sinful and scandalous means. God cannot be served through mortal sin.

Things like this, even if well-intentioned, always end up the same way in the long run: They do not lead the world to Christ, but make Christ into a mockery before the world. The world does not become Catholic, but Catholics become worldly. There is no better proof of this than the Novus Ordo religion itself, 50 years after the Second Vatican Council opened the church to the world. It is virtually powerless before the world, and most people do not really take it seriously.

But be that as it may: Genuine Roman Catholics are terribly outraged at this sordid spectacle perpetrated by Sister Cristina, as it causes grave offense against Almighty God, His Church, and the True Faith, which in most people’s minds is represented by this woman.
