When a warning light illuminates on my car’s dashboard, it’s the first signal that there’s something wrong under the hood, and if I ignore it, there’s a good chance I’m going to end up broken down on the side of the road. Checking out other women is a sort of “warning light” in a man’s soul. If we indulge in the mental fantasy and start finding comfort there, it’s evidence that our heart is not fully in tune with God’s principles or our wife’s needs. We need to take a step back and ask ourselves why we’re seeking a counterfeit form of fulfillment. We’ll still be tempted even when our faith is strong and our marriage is strong, but our desire for integrity will be stronger than our desire for cheap lust.
