. . . and Rejection of Baptismal Regeneration as its Antidote I cite The Latin Works of Huldreich Zwingli, Volume Two, edited by William John Hinke and translated by Henry Preble (revised by Hinke), Philadelphia: The Heidelberg Press, 1922. I am specifically addressing a treatise written by Huldreich Zwingli (1484-1531), entitled, Declaration Regarding Original Sin, Addressed to Urbanus Rhegius (15 August, 1526), on pages 1-32. Urbanus Rhegius (1489-1541) was a Lutheran theologian. Zwingli’s words will be in blue. I use RSV... Read more

I cite The Latin Works of Huldreich Zwingli, Volume Three, edited by Clarence Nevin Heller, Philadelphia: The Heidelberg Press, 1929. I am specifically addressing Zwingli‘s work, Commentary on True and False Religion (1525; translated by Henry Preble), which William Walker Rockwell in his Preface describes as “The earliest truly comprehensive treatise on Protestant theology” and the first to present “the full-orbed Protestant faith. . . .   Luke 1:41-45 (RSV) And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit [42] and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! [43] And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [44] For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in... Read more

Samson’s Death-Story & Secular Archaeology

Last updated on: June 6, 2026 at 12:53 am   By Dave Armstrong

It’s one of the most famous stories of the Old Testament. Strong man Samson, who was a leader in Israel for twenty years, lived in the first half of the 11th century B.C. He was a captive of the Philistines right before he died, and the Bible describes his famous death as follows: Judges 16:29-30 (RSV) Samson grasped the two middle pillars upon which the house rested, and he leaned his weight upon them, his right hand on the one... Read more

In Search of the Biblical Mt. Sinai

Last updated on: June 6, 2026 at 12:53 am   By Dave Armstrong

In the book of Exodus in the Bible, Mt. Sinai is the mountain where Moses encountered God in the burning bush and received the Ten Commandments from Him. The related term, Horeb appears in the Old Testament 17 times, but only three of these refer to it as a mountain. In the other fourteen, it’s an area. The word Sinai appears 35 times in the Old Testament, referring to a wilderness 19 times and a specific mountain peak sixteen times. Most Bible scholars believe that... Read more

Defense of Christian Apologetics & Epistemology

Last updated on: June 6, 2026 at 12:53 am   By Dave Armstrong

This occurred on a public Facebook page of a Facebook friend of mine. The words of my opponent will be in blue. ***** The inherent problem of apologetics [is that] it has no room for real conversation to exist on theology. Apologetics is the conclusion being presented as proof of the hypothesis, and the conversation ends there. Theology allows for criticism, highlights and disagreements. It allows for not two paths but a multitude of paths for discussion. The root cause... Read more

Calvin’s Successor Theodore Beza & Execution of Heretics

Last updated on: June 6, 2026 at 12:05 am   By Dave Armstrong

Theodore Beza (1519-1605) was a disciple of John Calvin and succeeded Calvin him as the spiritual leader of Geneva. At the Colloquy of Worms in 1557, Beza proposed a union of all Protestant Christians, but of course that didn’t happen, and never would happen. I ran across the following information in volume one of the two-volume set, which I have in hardcover in my own library, Toleration and the Reformation (Joseph Lecler, S.J., New York: Association Press, 1960, from the 1955 French... Read more

How Tall Was Goliath? The Truth Revealed!

Last updated on: June 13, 2026 at 1:05 pm   By Dave Armstrong

Summary: Drawing from contemporary biblical archaeology, biblical manuscripts, and studies of ancient measurements, I provide a clear, reasoned, and historically grounded answer. Was Goliath really over 9 feet tall? Or is the Bible telling a more realistic story than many imagine? In this fascinating episode of Lux Veritatis, I unpack one of the most queried details in the Bible: the height of Goliath. You’ll learn what the Masoretic Text, the Septuagint, and the Dead Sea Scrolls actually say—and how... Read more
