Seidensticker Folly #62: Bible & Personhood of Fetuses

Last updated on: November 10, 2020 at 11:53 am   By Dave Armstrong

Atheist and anti-theist Bob Seidensticker, who was “raised Presbyterian”, runs the influential Cross Examined blog. He asked me there, on 8-11-18: “I’ve got 1000+ posts here attacking your worldview. You just going to let that stand? Or could you present a helpful new perspective that I’ve ignored on one or two of those posts?” He added in June 2017 in a combox: “If I’ve misunderstood the Christian position or Christian arguments, point that out. Show me where I’ve mischaracterized them.” Delighted to oblige his wishes . . .  Bob (for the... Read more

Dialogue: Purgatory & 2 Maccabees 12:39-45

Last updated on: November 8, 2020 at 1:01 pm   By Dave Armstrong

Luke Wayne has been a writer and researcher for the large Protestant online forum CARM since January of 2016. He is an elder at the Mission Church in South Jordan, Utah and holds a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist College and a Masters in Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I’m responding to his article, “Purgatory and 2 Maccabees 12:39-45” (1-30-17). Luke’s words will be in blue. ***** [P]urgatory teaches that people who die while in God’s... Read more

No Election Fraud At All? Read On

Last updated on: November 10, 2020 at 1:15 pm   By Dave Armstrong

Here is a collection of articles detailing concerns. No, I don’t automatically agree with all of them (thanks for the question!). But I think there is enough here that it ought to be seriously investigated, which in the current crisis almost certainly means the ultimate involvement of the Supreme Court (as in 2000). Americans believe deeply in fair play. Republicans / conservatives lose with class (we don’t whine for four years or riot in the streets as the left does).... Read more

Dialogue on Homosexuality & What’s “Natural”

Last updated on: November 6, 2020 at 10:04 am   By Dave Armstrong

This is a friendly dialogue begun spontaneously by Jacqueline Cruz on my Facebook page. Her words will be in blue. ***** Not trying to argue or anything, but why do people condemn sex acts between two men, but rarely condemn sex acts between two women? I’ve noticed when Catholics go after the LGBT community, they usually come straight for the men, but rarely go into details of what women do with other women in bed, like why is that? Dunno. Good question.... Read more

The Election at 8 AM ET on Wednesday, 11-4-20

Last updated on: November 4, 2020 at 12:42 pm   By Dave Armstrong

As of 8 AM and the statistics at Politico, if we give Biden Wisconsin (very slight lead) and Trump Georgia, NC, and Alaska, it stands at Biden 248, Trump 247. Trump is ahead in PA, so if we give him that, he goes to 267. If Biden then gets Michigan (though Trump is very slightly ahead now, with a 0.5 lead, at 91% reporting, which was up 0.1 from the report at 90%), he is at 264. Nevada with its... Read more

Dialogue with a “Christian Atheist / Gnostic”

Last updated on: November 2, 2020 at 12:26 pm   By Dave Armstrong

This occurred underneath my post, “Quantum Entanglement” & the “Upholding” Power of God (10-20-20). Words of Sandy Plage will be in blue. ***** If there is an intelligence behind the universe, there is no reason to think of that intelligence as an omnimax “god”, and there is no reason to associate that intelligence with Yahweh, or Zeus, or Christ. My Electoral College Predictions + “Trump Wins!” Articles

Last updated on: November 3, 2020 at 12:04 pm   By Dave Armstrong

Click the map to create your own at 270toWin.com ***** In 2016 I got 46 of 50 states right, and was just 7 electoral votes off (I predicted Trump would win in May of that year, and gave 15 reasons, with 13 being correct). Not bad for a merely amateur political junkie, huh? I don’t get paid a penny for my speculations and don’t advise any politicians, yet I was more accurate than maybe 95% of the big-shot advisors and... Read more
