I am partnering with former Protestant pastor and Coming Home Network employee Kenny Burchard on the YouTube channel, Catholic Bible Highlights, and have done 46 videos so far over the past year (see the list). We should be able to do relatively more videos this year because we’re making shorter ones, per the trend now (more like a half-hour, rather than an hour), and will be doing scores and scores of “shorts” too (2-3 minute videos).

So the sky’s the limit, pretty much! Recently, Kenny did a video interview with me for almost an hour, about my work and full-time apologetics apostolate, and we talked enthusiastically (starting at 39:50 on the video) about the channel and the plans and hopes we have for the coming year. This is the transcript of that discussion, with Kenny’s word in blue.

*****

And the last thing that we want to talk about is the most recent thing. I consider myself privileged, Dave, to have gotten you to come over here to Catholic Bible Highlights and be part of this channel. And it’s YouTube apologetics. I don’t think I have the full count of videos that you’ve done on the channel [46, including this one], but let’s unpack what drew you to this channel in particular and also some of your goals and aspirations in the coming days for this approach to ministry.

*

Well, it was a great blessing when you came along and asked me to join because a lot of people have, as you know, tried to get me to do videos either on their [channel] or they say, “You ought to start your own channel.” I just wanted to keep writing. I mean, I’m a writer and an author. That’s the essence of what I am, but it doesn’t mean I can’t do other things, too. But when you came along, I think it did sort of go along [with] how I am, because we dialogue and that’s what I like. I do that in writing and I do it on our videos. That’s my preferred way of communicating. We’re agreeing with each other, but that’s fun, too, because we’ll bounce ideas back and forth. But it was just time.

*

The fact is that videos are where “everything” is happening now, [with] thousands and thousands of viewers. It’s very difficult to not get involved in it if your goal is to reach as many people as possible. So, it’s simply another technology that has come along, basically it’s like “every man’s TV.” I’ll joke with my wife, “I’m gonna be on TV tonight” [and] we’ll watch one of our videos. It’s weird, sitting there looking at our TV and I’m on there, and it’s high quality, how it looks. So it’s amazing to me, but [YouTube] is where it’s at right now and I’m so glad that you persuaded me to do it because a lot of exciting things are happening.

*

This thing is gonna keep growing and it [will] reach a point where it’s exponential growth, which I think is 50,000 subscribers, from what I understand. So we’re using the technology that’s available, just like Christians have always done, [such as] when radio came along, [or] when television itself [did], or written books in the 15th century, when they started publishing widely. So that’s what we’re doing.

*

You know, Dave, when I was first interacting with you about coming on to the channel, I was sitting in the living room with my wife MaryJo and I said, “Dave Armstrong said he would agree to do a video with me”, and I was so excited because it was such a value to me. Your work was so valuable to me personally up to that point and in fact was an inspiration for how I wanted to do this channel. I had had a few videos on the channel that I threw up over time, and it was June of 2024 when I did my first Catholic Bible Highlights video, and I made the decision that is what this page is: [that] this channel is going to be about helping Catholics open their Bibles, highlight their Bibles, underline their Bibles, and use their Bibles in apologetics, in devotions, in study, and getting to know Jesus better and their Catholic faith better and learning to share their Catholic faith with others.

*

And there was nobody’s work who was more valuable to me than yours. And so when I shared with my wife, “Dave Armstrong is going to do a video with me”, I was so excited. And then when you saw the value in the channel and decided to do videos regularly with me, I will tell you, it’s been one of the great delights of my personal life as a Christian and as a Catholic to be able to work with you on this channel, and such an honor, and you’ve brought so much value to the content here. And I want people also to know [that] many of the videos that I’ve done, where it’s just my face, I’ve been raking over Dave Armstrong books before I go into the video. Your books have helped me in even my own individual approach to apologetics, because I want them to be centered in Scripture. So Dave, you’ve brought so much value to the channel, and I’m so grateful to you, and everybody ought to be grateful to you for the work that you’ve done in your books, on your blog, and now on [this channel].

*

Very kind words! I appreciate that. But it works both ways. I’m really blessed to be here and [to] be able to have the conversations we have, because I love that and I don’t actually do it much. I have my own discussion group which is every couple months or something, but I’m not with people [much]. We’re way out in the country now, so I enjoy the interaction and all the people that are commenting, and so it’s been a great blessing and I love how we sort of complement each other: you’re the former pastor preacher; you have that seminary education that I don’t have — I don’t have a single course in theology; it’s all self-taught stuff.  I’ve been Catholic 35 years. You came in six years ago, so you [have] that zeal of the young convert. So I think we complement each other in a lot of ways. And I think it’s great.

*
Amen. It is great. And we we both have the same passion and goal with respect to Scripture. And we have some incredible Catholic apologists out there, and many of them are quite adept at integrating biblical truth [with] their Catholic apologetics, and that sure is necessary when you’re talking with Protestants and evangelicals. But I consider myself incredibly blessed in order to work with you, because our approach to apologetics is squarely on demonstrating the biblical nature of the Catholic faith: and people need that. So Dave, I’m so blessed to have had this brief conversation with you. There was so much more we could do, but we want to leave people wanting more, as it were.

*

But I just want to remind everybody of of what we’re presenting here. First of all, the Dave Armstrong Apologetics Library. You need to begin building that in your own library. You can get Dave’s books in digital format [or in paperback]. We’ll put a link to his books page in the description of the video [see the master books page and also a description of all my books]. You should go through there. Everybody should get his biblical apologetics books. And for sure, every single person ought to have in their library, 100 Biblical Arguments Against Sola Scriptura. It’s newly published by Bridgebuilders Press. We’ll put a link in the description. The Dave Armstrong Apologetics Library is necessary. Jesus wants you to have it in your in your possession.

*

But second, Dave Armstrong’s blog [see an in-depth description and outline of it]. It’s likely that there is no topic that you are interacting with someone about right now that Dave has not in some way covered. [There is] no apologist out there who has a prominent name, that Dave hasn’t interacted with in some way on his blog. And I’m talking all the big names and all the names in classical Protestantism as well. He’s interacted with all of that material in big and small ways. So the Dave Armstrong blog, a link to that is in the description. And of course, Catholic Bible Highlights, which now prominently features the work of Dave Armstrong, whether you see it or not, it’s always here. And Dave, I’m looking forward to 2026 and all the projects that we have in store. It’s going to be a great year. It’ll be our second full year together, next year. And it’s going to be incredible. We hope to be a real blessing to the Church and to our fellow Catholics.

*

Well, somehow we have kept “on fire”, so to speak. I’m really excited. I know you are, too. Things are just taking off. The whole goal is to reach as many people as we can. We’re not trying to look down our nose at anybody. We’re sharing what we have found. I often think the Catholic faith is sort of like the pearl of great price, you know, in the parable. It’s a little extra. You have the gospel, then you have the fullness of Catholicism that — when I found it — revolutionized my whole life. And so it’s been 35 years and I’m as excited now as I ever was, by God’s grace.

*

Me too. When we first started working together, we had about 12,000 subscribers on the channel. We are nearing 27,000 as of the time of the recording of this video. We’ve had incredible friends join our work, support our work financially, share our work all over the world. Our videos have been seen all over planet Earth, Dave, and I’m really excited about that and about the year to come. And for our viewers, this video is 100% devoted to supporting the apologetics ministry of Dave Armstrong [see the donation page and please make a generous donation today].

*

Every penny that you give, every penny that you donate using the giving page below in the description will go to support Dave and his full-time Catholic apologetics ministry, and we’ll make sure it all [of it] gets to him and that he continues his good work. He is an incredible blessing to all of us through his books, through his blog, and now through the YouTube videos in which he’s featured here on Catholic Bible Highlights. So, we cheerfully encourage everybody to support him and his work and and the work that we’re doing here. And Dave, I’ll give you the final word to our viewers as we sign off together.

*

My final word would be sort of the motto of my ministry; when Paul says, “I’ve become all things to all men.” That that’s what I try to do. That’s why I use the biblical arguments, because that’s the common ground with our Protestant brothers and sisters. They couldn’t care less about what some pope said in 1100 or something. They’ll just say, “Who cares?” [But] if you give them a Bible verse, now now you have a discussion. They either agree or disagree. You always have to find the common ground with your opponent, and so I try to do that. If I’m talking to atheists, their language is science. That’s how you make a bridge with the atheist. So I’ve tried to live by that approach: sort of the Pauline approach to evangelism. Socrates and Paul [are] my two heroes, and Cardinal Newman, if people want to know about me: those three. After I talk to Jesus and Mary in heaven, I’m gonna talk to those three people.

*

So, there will be hugs all around. Well, Dave, I sure appreciate you, brother. And to our viewers, we appreciate you for staying with us. And before you go, before you leave the video, let me encourage you to head over to the description, find Dave’s giving page, click on it, leave a generous gift as part of your year-end giving. And if you’re finding this video after 2025, of course, you can always give now as well, but thanks to everybody for watching. Thanks to you, Dave, for your incredible ministry to me and to the whole Church, to everybody on this channel. And God bless you everyone. We’ll see you next time as we jump back into apologetics. Biblical Christianity and Catholicism are the same thing. We’ll see you next time.
