OC, DW, JS, and BoM plates

From left to right, in a still photo by James Jordan from the set of the Interpreter Foundation’s Witnesses film project, currently under production: Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer, and Joseph Smith, who has the plates of the Book of Mormon in a box. Do they seem very young? They should. They were.

Thanks to the inquiry of a reader, I now realize that I didn’t give the title of the remarks that I’ll be delivering when I speak this coming Sunday, 13 October 2019, in Cedar City, Utah.  My subject will be

“Idle Tales”? The Witness of Women

The fireside will begin at 7 PM on Sunday evening, at the chapel located at 800 South Laurie Lane (800 South and Westview Road).  When this event was set up, the Cedar City Utah West Stake Center had already been scheduled.  So, although it will be a stake fireside, it will be held at the South Mountain Ward rather than at the stake center.

Here are two new items that were just posted on the website of the Interpreter Foundation:

“The Kinshasa DR Congo Temple: A Personal Perspective — Part 1: Preparing for the Kinshasa Temple Open House — 18 March 2019”

“The Kinshasa DR Congo Temple: A Personal Perspective — Part 2: Media Session of the Kinshasa Temple Open House — March 11, 2019”

The Interpreter Foundation provides a handy collection of materials to assist teachers and students in the Gospel Doctrine classes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

Come, Follow Me New Testament Lesson 39: September 30–October 13 — Ephesians “For the Perfecting of the Saints”

This arrived today in the bulletin of the BYU Humanities Center, which is part of my college, the College of Humanities, at Brigham Young University.  I found it both moving and meaningful, and so, hoping that you also might, I share the link here:

“Seeking Meaning in Religious Art, in Rome”

I’m afraid that it’s time for some more links to the Neville-Neville Land blog, about the claims of Mr. Jonathan Neville:

“The real difference between Heartlanders and “M2C””

“The Heartland train goes off the rails”

“Lack of self-awareness: the defining characteristic of Heartlanders”

“The mark of the fraudster”

“The path to truth”

“General Conference retrospective”

Here’s the Salt Lake Tribune‘s take on one of the changes announced at the October 2019 semi-annual general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

“In a nod to Heavenly Mother, LDS Young Women’s theme changed to ‘Heavenly Parents’”
