I wish Kenneth could have attended the weddings here. Perhaps he did.

The temple in Houston has been seriously affected by the hurricane-caused floods there, but, fortunately, there are several other temples in Texas, including this one in San Antonio, where a couple of my nieces have been married. The San Antonio Texas Temple sits atop a hill, so it’s fairly secure from non-Noachic flooding.

I’m pleased to read that President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Presiding Bishop Gerald Caussé, and Elder J. Devn Cornish (a member of the Seventy) have paid a visit to the struggling Saints in southeastern Texas:

“President Uchtdorf Visits Texas in Hurricane Harvey Aftermath: Bishop Caussé and other leaders lend support”

And I can scarcely express my delight at living in an era when the second counselor in the First Presidency, visiting Texas from Salt Lake City in the wake of a natural disaster, is a German and the Presiding Bishop who is accompanying him is French.

Here, yet again, is one way that we can help the Church in its relief and humanitarian efforts:

For some reflections on Hurricane Harvey and a few things that we can learn from it, I recommend:

“The Hope in Houston”

“Houston Rescuers Prove the Lie of ‘Toxic Masculinity’”

“No, the Response to Harvey Doesn’t Refute Texas Conservatism”

“Hurricane Harvey’s Men, Women, and Children”

On a very different note, I enjoyed this short piece by the indefatigable Robert Boylan:

“More Trinitarian Logical Failures”

In this context, I might mention that I have an article on the subject of the Trinity in the new festschrift volume “To Seek the Law of the Lord”: Essays in Honor of John W. Welch.  Which, by the way, you should ideally purchase through AmazonSmile — a service that will donate 0.5% of your purchase price to a charity of your choice (e.g., the Interpreter Foundation) at absolutely no cost to you.

Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been urging us to use social media to share the Gospel, in whatever way we’re inclined or feel comes natural to us:

See this item, for example:

“Using Social Media for Gospel Purposes”

And now there’s this:

“Elder Stevenson Urges Use of Technology to Spread ‘Knowledge of a Savior'”

Finally, I want to call attention to a slight error in a link at CruiseLady.com that I provided in my earlier blog post “This coming Wednesday night.”

The itinerary given there is the same one that I’ll be following in Egypt next spring, but it was copied and pasted from another entry for a tour to be led by Brett Savage, and then it wasn’t corrected to replace his name with mine.

I mention this so that you won’t be confused.
