The documentary The Wisdom to Survive: Climate Change, Capitalism & Community is now available on video, and among the many noted environmentalists and others who serve as “talking heads” for the film is none other than engaged Buddhist icon Joanna Macy.

Macy is, of course, the eco-philosopher and scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology whose books include the essentials World As Lover, World As Self: Courage for Global Justice and Ecological Renewal and Mutual Causality in Buddhism and General Systems Theory: The Dharma of Natural Systems. In addition, her hugely valuable teachings on working with “environmental despair” have made her a vital voice in the environmental movement more generally.

The Wisdom to Survive is described by Old Dog Documentaries this way:

This film accepts the consensus of scientists that climate change has already arrived, and asks—what is keeping us from action? In discussions with thought leaders and activists, we explore how unlimited growth and greed are destroying the life support system of the planet, the social fabric of the society, and the lives of billions of people.
