VIDEO INTERVIEW: Dr. Michaela Haas, Media Consultant and Board Member for Lotus Outreach 2012-03-17T21:38:39-07:00 dannyfisher

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

Dr. Michaela Haas

Dr. Michaela Haas is an international reporter, lecturer and consultant. In addition, she is the media consultant for and a board member of Lotus Outreach — the secular humanitarian organization founded by Buddhist teacher Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and dedicated to “ensuring the education, health and safety of at-risk and exploited women and children in the developing world.”

Dr. Haas is also currently a lecturer and research scholar in the Religious Studies department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is also an adjunct faculty member at my home institution of University of the West, where she is currently teaching our “Women and Buddhism” graduate Religious Studies course. Dr. Haas recently finished a book about contemporary Tibetan Buddhist teachers who are women that will be published soon with Snow Lion Publications as well.

The founder of Haas live! Communication Coaching Consulting, “an international coaching company which specializes in media and mindfulness training for business leaders and media professionals,” she also has worked successfully in journalism as an international reporter, TV-host, interviewer and documentary filmmaker. Dr. Haas is also a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and a must-follow Twitterer @MichaelaHaas.

Much-beloved by the students on our campus — she has contributed greatly to our community, and is one of the most delightful and kind people you’re ever going to meet — Dr. Haas is someone I consider a pal. I was curious to know more about Lotus Outreach and its work, and that certainly seemed worth sharing here. Dr. Haas graciously agreed to be interviewed on camera yesterday afternoon when we both had a free moment. Please watch our interview below, and support Lotus Outreach at www.lotusoutreach.org.
