Five Police Officers killed

Last updated on: July 8, 2016 at 6:48 am By Dave Griffey

Eleven total shot. six more wounded. God bless those heroes who threw themselves in front of protesters who only moments before were bemoaning racist, murdering cops. That is what a hero is all about. Bless those who will not return home to their families. Bring peace and strength to their loved ones, their colleagues, and an unworthy nation that wrestles with the events of the last few days. The media is urging caution. The emphasis is on fact finding and learning... Read more

Two police shootings

Last updated on: July 8, 2016 at 2:52 pm By Dave Griffey

Are making the news. There are others of course, killings involving the police and not involving the police. These are the ones I’ve heard about. Right now, I know nothing. Repeat, nothing. I know two people were killed. I know police officers were involved. Nothing I can do right now will change a thing. As a person of faith, all I can do is pray for those who died, their loved ones, all who are involved, and justice. That’s it.... Read more

By tolerance and diversity, we must mean something else

Last updated on: July 6, 2016 at 9:01 pm By Dave Griffey

Anthony Arnett wrote a piece that is making the rounds. It’s a fair piece and worth the read. The hammer falls heavier on the GOP side of the divide than the Democrats. Nonetheless, he points out a few areas where the Democrats fall short. In one case, he says this: The Democrats support basic economic fairness and stand against racism, but they are most animated by the right of each individual to choose their own conception of the good. They are more... Read more

As for the FBI decision about Ms. Clinton’s emails

Last updated on: July 6, 2016 at 4:08 pm By Dave Griffey

Don’t for a minute think the whole situation doesn’t stink to high heaven. From the bizarre meeting between Bill and Loretta Lynch, kept secret until reported by a local journalist, to the equally bizarre notion that terrible lapses of judgement while handling classified information should result in nothing, the whole story seems like something out of a Twilight Zone episode. The most disturbing part of it all, as many are recognizing, is the idea that if you or I or anyone else did... Read more

Don’t for a minute think the Clinton Email Scandal is all about Clinton

Last updated on: July 6, 2016 at 9:20 am By Dave Griffey

Nope. This is not something that is Right or Left, it is modern. This is about us. It’s not as if corruption from on high is something new. Read ancient histories. Heck, read the Bible. The powerful squeaking by where the little people would be crushed is as old as human government. The big difference today is that we live in a Democratic Republic, where we the people have the ability to do something about this sort of thing. And yet,... Read more

Happy 16th Birthday!

Last updated on: July 5, 2016 at 4:22 pm By Dave Griffey

And how sweet it was! Love you guy! Our resident athlete, former gymnast, football player, and all around competitive juggernaut. Yet you have a AAA personality, with a heart of gold. Adventurous, playful, high intensity, and not a cowardly bone in your body. And yet, still young at heart. I encourage you to keep that youthful spark in your eye. God bless you with a wonderful year and a life that can keep up with your energies. This was... Read more

Of Hillary Clinton and broken windows

Last updated on: July 5, 2016 at 12:29 pm By Dave Griffey

The news is abuzz about the fact that the FBI advised no criminal charges be brought against Hillary Clinton regarding the so-called Email Scandal. That is the headline, and for Clinton supporters or Trump detractors, that will be just fine. Those who are against Clinton will not stop and will pursue other angles. So who is better off between those two approaches? Well, it being our day and age, I give the nod to those defending Ms. Clinton. After all,... Read more

Yesterday we celebrated the soul of our nation

Last updated on: July 5, 2016 at 10:58 am By Dave Griffey

Ever notice that we don’t have a holiday celebrating the Constitution that is on par with the Declaration of Independence? I think that’s because the Constitution merely sets out the rules for how to make the country work. The Declaration says what the country should look like when it does work. The Constitution is the brains of our nation, but the Declaration is the heart and soul. Just an observation. Hope everyone had a great Independence Day celebration. As the... Read more

There is still some hammering away at the details, but the Patheos channel for my blog is now up and running. Here is the link. Moving forward, I’ll be posting there. At first, until I get used to things, the posting might be a bit sparse. But once I’m comfortable with the new systems, I should be back to full steam. See you over there! Remember, tell a friend. 🙂 Read more
