A little humor for the weekend
Last updated on: January 6, 2017 at 10:11 pm By Dave Griffey
Mocking yet the latest cry-fest from our entertainment aristocracy. I’m one who think’s they’re not nearly as bothered by the fact that Trump won as they are that nobody really cared what they had to say. I mean, they threw themselves behind Hillary and for Obama like I’ve never witnessed in my life. And not only did Hillary lose, but the party they support got smacked down across the country. The funny thing? This video is lame, but it’s no... Read more

A shooting in Florida
Last updated on: January 6, 2017 at 8:34 pm By Dave Griffey
Apparently there has been a shooting in the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. News is still unfolding but it appears that at least five have died. Others have been wounded. These are always tough. Any violence or murder is horrible, but there’s something about people being randomly killed just because they were there, going about their business, plans and expectations for the day. Terrible. God bless those who died and their loved ones, cover their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus... Read more

Yep

What I’ve said in my own clumsy way: “When the press is gagged, liberty is besieged; but when the press assumes the liberty to lie, it discounts clemency, mocks morality, outrages humanity, breaks common law, gives impulse to violence, envy, and hate, and prolongs the reign of inordinate, unprincipled clans. At this period, 1888, those quill-drivers whose consciences are in their pockets hold high carnival. When news-dealers shout for class legislation, and decapitated reputations, headless trunks, and quivering hearts are held... Read more

Apparently torture is no longer an intrinsic evil
Last updated on: January 6, 2017 at 8:52 am By Dave Griffey
Don Lemon explains. Not worth debating. Unless, of course, Mr. Lemon believes racism or torture in other cases might be the result of bad training at home. In other news, the credibility of Hate Crimes was maintained by filing hate crime charges against the four individuals who kidnapped and tortured a white man because, well, he was white. And the good news is that this is taking on a life of its own. Partly a backlash against those who met the initial story with ‘Ah... Read more

A racist hate crime
Last updated on: January 5, 2017 at 9:13 am By Dave Griffey
Deserves to be condemned. Period. Like yesterday’s post, I’m seeing people on Social Media jumping on this. This proves … nothing. It proves nothing about Blacks, about Liberals, about Democrats, about Hillary Supporters, about people worried about Donald Trump. It proves nothing. It proves that bad apples are in every demographic. With that said, the same goes for any group, including Trump supporters, Republicans, Conservatives, Whites, Christians, or anyone. No, the media isn’t giving this much coverage. Yesterday, I had... Read more

The problem with fake news
Last updated on: January 4, 2017 at 8:43 am By Dave Griffey
Is that for the longest time, the professional media had a monopoly. Now everyone’s in on the game. As this Forbes piece shows, ‘Fake News’ – a shock term without a clear definition – is not confined to one side of the aisle, or one source of information. If Fake News is a major problem, I suggest we start at the top and work down from there. Read more

Not all feminists are like this
Last updated on: January 4, 2017 at 8:25 am By Dave Griffey
Of that I’m sure. Every group has its bad apples. It’s a shame that bad apples take the opportunity to put agenda over sincere human emotion. One of the ways to detect the radicals and zealots in a particular group. Letting people mourn the best way they know how is the better way to go. Read more

Good for them
Last updated on: January 4, 2017 at 8:57 am By Dave Griffey
The Clintons will attend the Inauguration. I’m beginning to wonder if some people want horrible things to happen under Trump’s presidency, so they can say, “Ha! Told you!” A nasty thought. If they don’t want it, they’re building up Trump’s awfulness so nothing short of an apocalyptic catastrophe will justify the hysteria. So it’s good to see someone stand up and be an adult in the room. Had Clinton taken this approach, instead of trying to do a Rubio and out-Trump... Read more

The ongoing Sex Abuse scandal
Last updated on: January 4, 2017 at 6:55 am By Dave Griffey
Not that one. This one. It’s been a few years since the media did a serious, ongoing focus on the Church’s sex abuse scandal. It still covers a story when something happens. But for the longest time, you couldn’t go a month without some outlet focusing on the scandal, even if there were no developments in the story. Yet that’s nothing compared to the lack of coverage that our overall problem with sex abuse tends to receive. The problem in... Read more
