Two important political truths
Last updated on: February 16, 2017 at 8:36 am By Dave Griffey
One, your opponent never disagrees with you about how to accomplish something. Your opponent wants evil to thrive. So your opponent doesn’t disagree with you on how to reduce crime. Your opponent wants a Hell’s Angel named Thor to get out of prison so he can rape and murder your daughters. The same with anything else. Your opponent wants evil. He doesn’t disagree with you over how to achieve good. Two, if A being true helps your party, then A... Read more

God wills it!

Or Deus Vult for you sticklers out there. To read some anti-Trump Catholics, you’d think opposition to Trump is all one needs for salvation. Embrace evil, teach heresy, endorse blasphemy, it matters not. Just go on crusade against Trump and you are in the good graces of, well, people who think a lot about their political opinions. Thank goodness there are saner minds out there, like that of Michael Flynn. No, not that Michael Flynn. This Michael Flynn, who looked at... Read more

On commenting
Last updated on: February 13, 2017 at 1:34 pm By Dave Griffey
Hello everyone. I needed to update a little on the comments. On the whole, I appreciate everyone who visits and throws their two cents into the comments box. For my part, I try to respond to comments, especially those directed to me. I figure if you take the time out of your schedule to say something, I should have the decency to respond. And early on, that was easy enough. Now, however, I’m seeing new folks coming by and giving their input... Read more

To sum up
Last updated on: February 11, 2017 at 1:05 pm By Dave Griffey
An observation from my oldest boy: ‘America is dealing with two extremes, plus Trump.’ That’s about right. The Alt Right and, if you will, the Alt Left. Both peddle extremism and allow for radicals who spew hate, racism, violence, intolerance, bigotry, and don’t see the country as big enough for anyone but who they say. Plus President Trump. Exactly how Trump fits in, I don’t know. He seems to embody parts of the extremes on both sides, and yet also... Read more

Are you busy Friday night?
Last updated on: February 9, 2017 at 9:12 pm By Dave Griffey
If not, then you could do worse than looking to the sky! Tomorrow night promises to be a full, rich time replete with Snow Moons, eclipses and comets. Enough to make us amateur astronomers all giddy with anticipation. We are fortunate to have an observatory down the street that is open to the public on Friday nights. Tickets are advised. I’ll check the cloud cover and who knows? If the weather cooperates, it will be more than worth it. Indeed, when... Read more

On defending the indefensible
Last updated on: February 9, 2017 at 12:38 pm By Dave Griffey
Jonah Goldberg is right. Republicans, conservatives, and anyone on the Right can’t defend Trump 24/7. It won’t work. And it will end up blowing up in their faces. Of course Trump isn’t going to be wrong 100%, with everything he eats for breakfast being cause for mass panic and claims that the sky will forever fall. In the face of the ugliness and stupidity coming from some of his critics, it could be easy to just circle the wagons and declare Trump... Read more

A feather in his cap
Last updated on: February 9, 2017 at 8:52 am By Dave Griffey
Good for him. Judge Gorsuch criticized President Trump’s smack down of federal judges. I’m glad. If someone could muzzle the President, that alone would be worth a vote. Meanwhile, on the mafia side of the Joker, we have Elizabeth Warren throwing her hat in the 2020 ring by first flipping the bird at a fellow Senator, and then crying like a baby because she got punished for flipping the bird at a fellow Senator. And in the ‘Did they hate Trump because he was... Read more

Was there something wrong with this?
Last updated on: February 8, 2017 at 8:37 am By Dave Griffey
I keep getting hits about the Budweiser Superbowl ad. What was the problem? To me, it celebrated America’s past a a land of opportunity, a shining beacon to the oppressed of the world. It still is. We still let people in by the boatload. And compared to many countries, we’re a breeze to become a citizen. I knew a young lady in graduate school who was from the former Soviet Union. She was working to become a US citizen someday.... Read more

Lord bless this poor woman
Last updated on: February 8, 2017 at 6:31 am By Dave Griffey
An elderly woman with dementia was euthanized and, despite her negative reaction, the doctor didn’t stop. The good news? The doctor is being ‘reprimanded.’ We’ll see where that leads. The bad news? This represents the unthinkable wickedness of the extreme Left. It in no way represents most who are liberal. Or, for that matter, the Left, Progressives, or whatever. Nonetheless, like hardcore racist nationalists yearning for a white only nation on the extreme Right, this is the glaring evil of the... Read more

The press continues to stun me with its inability to look in the mirror. Apparently Trump has released a list of under-reported terrorist attacks. I hadn’t heard about it until this morning when I was getting ready. I had CBS on this time. They were not happy. I mean, dare I say they were pissed. Indignant. They might as well have said ‘How dare him!’. They always cover attacks, according to CBS, and they ran a series of clips of... Read more
