I remember this!

Last updated on: March 5, 2016 at 2:29 pm   By Dave Griffey

As you get older, memories start to fade and sometimes merge.  So when you’re driving down the road and think to yourself ‘was there really a fast food chain called Burger Chef‘, you can’t help but doubt.  It seems you remember commercials.  You even remember eating there.  But was it a dream? Thanks to the miracle of the Internet, now we know: Woo hoo!  Now if the miraculous Internet could only supply me with a complete copy of the discontinued classic... Read more

My boys were right about Harry Potter

Last updated on: March 5, 2016 at 12:34 pm   By Dave Griffey

Back in the days of Pottermania, my boys became avid readers and partakers in all things fantasy and science-fiction.  My oldest was the first.  Initially he wasn’t interested in Harry Potter.  But through a fluke of genetic timing, he came to bear a striking resemblance to the boy wizard at just the right moment.  He even wore round glasses long before he knew of any wizard school or quidditch tournaments.  Eventually my other boys jumped on board.  The two oldest focused... Read more

Oh to make snowmen in Ohio now that Spring is here

Last updated on: March 4, 2016 at 6:50 pm   By Dave Griffey

Didn’t get as much done today as I planned, but it’s hard to avoid warming up a pot of coffee and just enjoying the view and the kids…at least until Ohio weather steps in and gives you another setting to enjoy. Some more of that winter feeling, March style I do love the view from our deck when snow covers the trees   They were supposed to be helping their brother make a snowman That’s about what they did for... Read more

Another opinion about Socialism

Last updated on: March 4, 2016 at 4:13 pm   By Dave Griffey

But then, what does he know?  I have it on good authority that Sanders isn’t really a Socialist at all.  In fact, what he proposes has nothing to do with Socialism.  In fact, there aren’t that many Socialist countries in the world after all.  More to the point, I’m not sure there was ever such a thing as Socialism.  This doubt is not coming from Sanders, by the way.  Sander mistakenly thinks he’s a Socialist, and many of his... Read more

An honest question about abortion

Last updated on: March 4, 2016 at 3:41 pm   By Dave Griffey

As I read this opinion piece at The Imaginative Conservative, I had to ask myself: When did abortion go from being the only sin that matters to a sin that doesn’t seem to matter at all?  I mean, we’re not talking about a pro-choice politician who has been sort of pro-choice.  We’re talking about someone who has tried to open the gates for any and all abortions, up to and including partial birth abortion even without the mother’s life on... Read more

A bit of History American Catholic style

Last updated on: March 4, 2016 at 12:14 pm   By Dave Griffey

Over at The American Catholic, we’re reminded of a little gem from the Revolution.  Yeah, that Revolution that so many Catholics on the blogosphere have denounced as an unjust war.  Maybe it makes me a bad Catholic, but I think it was just, worthy, and in fact, quiet heroic.  Read more

I don’t Tweet

Last updated on: March 4, 2016 at 10:45 am   By Dave Griffey

But if I did, I’d follow her: One of the many genius tactics of the progressive movement has been to constantly divide the world into this or that oppressed special interest group, and the vile history of the evil West from which the Progressives promise to rescue them.  It doesn’t matter what the special interest group, the enemy is always the same.  And those who refuse to get on board the good ship Liberalism will always be part of that enemy. Read more

Last updated on: March 4, 2016 at 8:10 am   By Dave Griffey
