April Showers

Ohio style: Though I can’t claim an Ohio exclusive on this one. It looks like Global Warming has brought quite a bit of snow to several states over the last few days. Fun as it is, it’s nothing new under the sun. Read more

The power of liberal propaganda
Last updated on: April 9, 2016 at 10:26 am By Dave Griffey
Is seen in just how many people hate and despise Fox News and dismiss it as bilge and word drool and right wing hate and stupidity. And yet, you know what? Democratic leaders and politicians still appear on various Fox programming, especially the Sunday Morning show with Chris Wallace. I’ll admit, I’m no fan of Fox. I’ve always cautioned against confusing Fox’s brand of Conservatism with Christianity. It’s more libertarian, with some pop culture liberalism thrown in. Especially the old... Read more

How I know Pope Francis didn’t change Church doctrine
Last updated on: April 9, 2016 at 10:15 am By Dave Griffey
Because when I googled “News”, this came up: As opposed to headlines screaming “Pope Francis rewrites Church teaching to welcome gays!”, or something like it. I’ve seen a few stories, and read some takes in various media outlets. Mostly focusing on the fact that the document seems to open a bit of a door for divorced couples following Pope Francis’s approach to erring on mercy where the sins of the modern Western progressive tendencies dominate. Otherwise, no major doctrinal shift,... Read more

Anyone in Ohio gets this
Last updated on: April 8, 2016 at 6:42 pm By Dave Griffey
Last Saturday, in a four hour period, we went from sunshine to hail, back to sunshine, a warming trend, clouds, rain, a cold front, sunshine again, rain and hail, sunshine, and finally snow flurries. That was in four hours. Read more

Understanding witch hunts
Last updated on: April 8, 2016 at 8:09 am By Dave Griffey
We all know about witch hunts. That’s where endless hordes of hapless innocents were slaughtered by sadistic and merciless Christian hypocrites throughout the ages. Every day, in every town, people were no doubt being burned, hanged and brought to the dunking stool. That little exaggeration isn’t meant to make light of what did happen. People were executed for witchcraft, and often for no other reason than trumped up charges based on hysteria and paranoia. Even if one innocent person dies,... Read more

Praise God
Last updated on: April 7, 2016 at 4:35 pm By Dave Griffey
It looks like Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil may not have suffered death and torture at the hands of Islamic radicals after all. That’s wonderful news. Prayers for those who have not been so fortunate at the hands of ISIS and other similar organizations. Pray that he is returned safe, and that the world can somehow come together and admit the evils that exist and work to actually end this particular scourge once and for all. Read more

We just proved Man Made Global Warming
Last updated on: April 7, 2016 at 11:33 am By Dave Griffey
How? Because the weather forecasts in and around my neck of the woods say that it will be unseasonably cold today and for the next couple days. How does that prove Man Made Global Warming? The same way anything else does: it’s already true, so anything that happens must prove it. A common standard, not only in climate science, but across the academic frontier. We already know something is true, so naturally the evidence must prove it. Why, if there... Read more

The death of liberalism
Last updated on: April 7, 2016 at 9:49 am By Dave Griffey
Is mused on by John C. Wright over at his blog. The cause of it seems to be a conversation between his wife and a member of the sci-fi community. I’ll admit, I’m no sci-fi or fantasy fan (my love of Tolkien makes some people assume otherwise), so I don’t know the personalities involved. But the discourse seemed to follow the modern leftist McCarthyism that anyone who has challenged liberal values in recent years has experienced. I just was happy... Read more

A genuine pro life story
Last updated on: April 6, 2016 at 1:35 pm By Dave Griffey
This is a good reason to be pro-life. Not because some day the life you save might save your life. But because, in the end, most of us don’t have a perfect grasp on the future, and therefore can’t be sure if we’re taking the life of a future Hitler, or a future researcher who will cure cancer. And not knowing, we default to the side of life. Read more

Mississippi celebrates hate and discrimination
Last updated on: April 6, 2016 at 8:35 am By Dave Griffey
Or the headlines might as well have said so. Instead, note ABC’s choice of headline: “Mississippi Gov. Signs Law Allowing Service Denial to Gays.” Of course it could have read something along the lines of “Mississippi Gov. Signs Law Allowing Freedom of Religious Exercise for Traditional Faiths.” In the end, there is no such thing as neutral values. Neutral morality. Neutral ethics. In the end, just like I said about Islam, it’s like the Superbowl. No matter how friendly or... Read more
