President Obama to visit Hiroshima
Last updated on: May 13, 2016 at 9:51 am By Dave Griffey
A city doomed to die That should be interesting. Not because I think President Obama will do something like smack America or call down fire and brimstone because of the decision to drop the bombs. Why would I ever think such a thing? It will be interesting because it will open up a debate that happens about once a year on the Internet, but not in too many other areas of mainstream culture. The debate about the Bombs has, of... Read more

We are tired of hearing women whine and complain
Last updated on: May 12, 2016 at 9:00 am By Dave Griffey
So the Leftists said. It turns out that a slow but growing resistance to the indisputable truth of pliable gender is women. That’s because, as I said here, there’s a whole lot about the transgender movement that at best seems to take the worst stereotypes of what it means to be a woman, or at the worst it compromises women’s sensitivities and even safety. Just a few years ago, if a woman, or a girl, cried out that they were... Read more

I love stories like this
Last updated on: May 11, 2016 at 6:44 am By Dave Griffey
A fifteen year old Canadian boy may have discovered a long lost Mayan city. It remains to be seen if he did, but the evidence, according to the story, looks promising. It always amazes me at how little we actually know of our universe. So little that, despite billions of dollars and the best and brightest minds, every now and again a child will stand up and point out something that everyone has missed. Well done young man. A little controversy in a forgotten corner of America
Last updated on: May 11, 2016 at 6:00 am By Dave Griffey
And a reminder that today everything is politics. To quote the patron saint of our post-modern culture, St. Perchik, “Everything’s political.” And so we have some African American candidates at West Point possibly violating rules by injecting a political message into a photo to remind us that there are no longer humans, only members of carefully crafted demographics. The point is did they violate West Point rules by making an overt political statement while in uniform? Something, apparently, you’re not allowed... Read more

Why I am not Methodist
Last updated on: May 10, 2016 at 6:36 pm By Dave Griffey
Yep. Another Protestant denomination finds out that you can’t, you just can’t, compromise with the secular Left. There is no compromise. There is only apostasy and conversion. Anything less, and you will remain on the side of the bigots and homophobes, the racists and sexists, the Nazis and Conservatives, and will deserve to be lumped into the same category as death camp guards and Spanish inquisitors and American settlers. Of course this brave and courage move won’t be enough. The... Read more

Someone get in there and help that man. The entire state of North Carolina is under siege, and has been for weeks, due to its insistence that boys use the boys bathroom. I know, that sounds like something out of a strange mixture of Twilight Zone and SNL, but it’s true. It’s also true that billion dollar corporations are taking actions to deliberately harm the well being of North Carolina’s citizens, while Obama has instructed the Federal Government to unleash... Pope Francis and the joy of judging
Last updated on: May 9, 2016 at 6:00 am By Dave Griffey
Pope Francis. The pope who does not judge. By that, the popular liberal culture means he’s taken issues like homosexuality and LGBTQ rights and abortion and set them aside, declared he has no real desire to judge those things or those who indulge in them, and is moving onto other, juicier topics. Topics like Man Made Global Warming, abuses of Capitalism, the failures of the Western Democracies, those who hold varying opinions on immigration or simply those Catholics, never clearly... Some humor on a sunny Friday afternoon
Last updated on: May 6, 2016 at 2:57 pm By Dave Griffey
I laughed, I cried, it… well, I laughed at least. You know, part of me still wonders if Trump is a plant, or if he is doing all of this deliberately to destroy the GOP. Part of me assumes he’s just some megalomaniacal prima donna who zeroed in on the party that looked in the worst shape. I wonder if it is all an act. If he is really a sane, balanced and thoughtful individual playing the Reality TV roll... Read more

What liberals see in Pope Francis
Last updated on: May 5, 2016 at 11:17 am By Dave Griffey
Is explained in a piece over at The New Yorker. Using the time honored liberal tactic of assuming that failure to be liberal means you are ignorant, hateful and bigoted, The New Yorker unpacks just what it sees Pope Francis doing to the Church. Again, like I’ve reflected on before, a growing number of liberals don’t think Pope Francis will just stand on the mount, gather all the scrolls and fragments of Church teaching that violate the liberal gospel, and...
