If you hate Donald Trump

Then  there is only one way to hear this select audio piece.  Trust me, I refuse to vote for Trump.  I don’t sit around and scratch my head wondering how people could possibly see him as a racist, or sexist, or a person with sneering contempt for any number of not-Donald Trump type people.  With that said, being wrong about one thing or many things doesn’t mean we can assume someone is guilty of everything.

I don’t know the context of the audio.  It is edited.  The opening paragraph suggests that the individual posting it isn’t a fan of Trump.  It isn’t as if I can’t comprehend that Trump might say such a thing.  I just didn’t hear it in the edited audio.  I hear him asked about his tower downtown, and him musing over the fact that it was once the tallest, then wasn’t, and now was again. Whether he was lamenting the fact, worrying that his tower could be next, or in some other way simply expressing shock is hard to say.   The audio ends abruptly after the statement.

I just know there isn’t enough evidence from this one source to say Donald Trump was bragging about his tower being the highest again thanks to the terrorist attacks on 9/11.  If there is more that does prove it, then I’ll join in the general condemnation.  If not, then despite the numerous tasteless and offensive things he has said, I won’t add this to the pile.  In fact, I shouldn’t have to.  Nonetheless, keeping it real is important.  Remember, it’s been said that sin makes us stupid.  Well, politics has a way of inadvertently making us sin.  So be careful.

CCC 2478 To avoid rash judgment, everyone should be careful to interpret insofar as possible his neighbor’s thoughts, words, and deeds in a favorable way:

Every good Christian ought to be more ready to give a favorable interpretation to another’s statement than to condemn it. But if he cannot do so, let him ask how the other understands it. And if the latter understands it badly, let the former correct him with love. If that does not suffice, let the Christian try all suitable ways to bring the other to a correct interpretation so that he may be saved.

Even when we’re talking about Donald Trump.
