My opinion?

Don’t skate on thin ice.  The whole Stanford rape case has brought to light the culture in which our youngsters are being raised.  And in response, our esteemed adult leadership has answered with an instructional video explaining that while consent is all that matters, consent has to be understood and explained.

Basically, the rule of thumb is that if you are partying with someone, and that someone says yes to sex, but later passes out from too much alcohol or drugs or for whatever reason is no longer in their right mind, then you must not continue.  OK.  Fair enough I guess.  But let that sink in.  That’s the official lesson to our young people.  That’s what they are being taught by our educational, legal and moral authorities.  That’s the official “21st Century American Stamp of Approval for Morality.”  If you’re partying with someone who says they want sex, but in the meantime they pass out for whatever reason – most likely the party – then you should cease and desist further sexual advances toward that person, at least until the person is back up and swinging.  Wow.  It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

As I said a long time ago, our modern age is basically about letting anyone skate on thin ice who wants to skate on thin ice.  In the meantime, we are all called upon to invest endless time, resources  and money in order to rescue everyone who falls through the ice, as well as dealing with the trauma and pain of those who can’t be rescued.   As opposed to, you know, just saying ‘don’t skate on thin ice.’

Our willingness to endure travesty after travesty, tragedy after tragedy, 30 million dead from AIDS, millions of other lives wrecked, lost and ruined in the wake of the sex and drugs culture, is impressive.  Perhaps part of our generation’s apathy is a result of this.  Why didn’t 9/11 shake us up more than it did?  What’s 3000 dead from some religion around the world when we’re willing to accept 30 million dead from a disease brought about by the very morals and lifestyles we fully support?

I don’t know.  I just had to hang my head when the article made the rounds.  I especially had to hang my head since so many I know who are Christian jumped in with thumbs up.  Way to concede defeat at every play and then be shocked when we end up losing the game.
