Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
“Words shape minds, and Minds make Men” a quote once heard, remembered and we use here often.
What inspires a person’s wisdom? Is it their experience, is it their circumstances or theology or is it just one’s desire to make a lasting impression on people. Can it be “sincerity”? The humility of a man or a woman, whose studies have shaped their emotional intelligence. Humbly they are just conveying a message, not intending to be profound, but are only seeking peace for mankind as their words, thoughts inspire others for blessings 🙂 and social work.
This came to mind because on Monday January 21, 2013; President Barack Obama was re-instated, the celebration of an inspirational leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was acknowledged, and the symbolism of both events simultaneously being observed here in the United States – simply led to this blog-ver-sa-tion. Over the weekend interfaith organizations and academia acknowledged advocating peaceful resolutions, by reflecting over King’s social justice meanings.
Most news feeds, commercials, radio ads and emails all contained the context of inspiration, a beginning or lasting thought and/or some motivating words.
January 21, 2013 the American Society and the global community were all focused on Peace, Unity and Accomplishments. This day the United Stated took time to acknowledge the achievements of two different time periods. The Civil Rights Movement, which still inspires today’s struggle for Social Justice.
Sunday January 20th; MPAC’s Director of Policy and Programming, Edina Lekovic, prepared for the annual South Coast Interfaith Council’s King Day Celebration. She mentions, earlier that morning the following inspirational words of Dr. King, encouraged and reminded her with tear drops of confidence…
“We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check — a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now…. Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God’s children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.” MLK
Earlier on Friday January 18, 2013; Najeeba Syed-Miller, Founder and Director of the Center for Global Peace Building, blogged her thoughts about the sincerity of words utilized by her teacher and leaders who have made a personal/career impact on her life. Her blog-ver-sa-tion states…
“So perhaps one lesson to glean from our celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is how we can move beyond competitive modes of talking, into a state of communal conversation that solemnizes an oath to speak with such careful thoughtfulness, so that the very act of forming a word is a sacred exertion of our highest sense of self. ”
In closing an “Inspiration, a Thought and Words” have all lead to action and enhanced the dignity of people; across all backgrounds and on all levels. We cannot allow the act of community organizing with leads to policy change, become an irrelevant tool. Both Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama are community organizers, which led them to a calling of leadership. Inspired examples, whose thoughts have made some lasting words for moving change forward.
The following 13 minute video is not about the highly celebrated and respected leaders observed in this blog-ver-sa-tion. It is about the leadership of Muhammad Ali and his closing statement at the video’s end. It is a comment of “Inspiration and Thoughtful Words”. I would quote it, please take the time to Watch, Listen and Read for your self…
Wisdom Wednesday are thoughts for social conversation and the sharing of honest opinions, ideals, and Wisdom. All of us have a value worth sharing; it may motivate another to stop, continue and/ or begin a certain process in our personal or social development. #tohavevision
