I recently heard reinvention strategist Marshawn Evans ask, “Are you an echo or a new sound?” Talk about a question that challenges you to step up your game! Being an echo is akin to being a cover band at a rock concert; you know all the words, but the crowd’s waiting for the original artist. In a world dominated by repetition and mimicry, to be a “new sound” is to embrace a path less traveled, a journey of bold exploration and innovation. This concept goes beyond mere originality in thought or action; it delves into the realm of spiritual faith, offering inquiry into the value of authentic expression.
The Essence of a New Sound
Being a “new sound” means forging a unique path, guided not by societal norms but by our own inner compass. It’s about recognizing that the deepest wisdom of the universe resides within us, waiting to be discovered and shared. This wisdom doesn’t shout over the noise of everyday life; rather, it whispers, inviting us to dream a new dream, envisioning and creating a world that aligns with our highest ideals and aspirations.
Guided by Faith
The call to be a “new sound” appeals to the soul—the aspect of self that is guided by inner knowing rather than conventional knowledge. Spiritual faith plays a pivotal role in this journey. It provides the strength and resilience needed to navigate uncharted waters. Faith acts as a beacon, guiding us through the challenges and uncertainties accompanying any path of true innovation and change. This wellspring of hope and courage sustains the wild heart on its quest.
Creating a New World
For those who choose to be a “new sound,” creating a new world is more than discarding the old; it’s about reimagining and redefining. It involves seeing the world not as it is but as it could be. It involves holding a different kind of vision, one grounded in the belief that each person has the power to effect change. “New sound” individuals are those who harness this power, using their unique gifts and insights to contribute to the collective good.
They embrace the unknown and entertain a willingness to question, wonder, and explore, stepping away from the comfort of the familiar and the certainty of the tried and true. This isn’t a journey for the faint-hearted; it’s a path for those willing to risk, learn, and grow. If you choose this path, you’ll find yourself tapping into the deep wisdom within each of us. A wisdom that isn’t acquired; it’s uncovered.
Answering the Call
So, as we approach 2024, I’m sending out a herald to the wild women, the medicine men, and all who’ve felt the Divine stir within their hearts. The world needs us to imagine the unseen, embrace the wisdom within, and use our unique voices to create a different, more harmonious way of being. We have the potential to be architects of a new era, one that sings with the music of innovation, compassion, and deep spiritual understanding.
Or you could settle for being an echo…
