LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

Book questionI’m writing a new book and need your help. It’s a funny illustrated book with an edge, addressing two fundamental human realities:

We all fall short of being perfect, or even who we wish we were or could be, and;

We all share a basic losing to become better people.

I do write this from a context of Christian culture, though it’s not strictly “about” or “for” Christians. I do, however, take on the problem of religiosity, which is when we we use our religion in a way that actually makes us worse people than we are without it. Religion, after all, is a tool with no inherent moral imperative by itself. We use it to seek God, to become more like Jesus (if we’re Christians) of our ideal potential self. But sometimes it does quite the opposite.

So this book is for all who long to become better people, as individuals and as parts of a greater societal whole. Given my religious experience and insight, a I also try to help share why and how we abuse our religion and perhaps reorient ourselves toward a more Christ-like path.

First, DOWNLOAD THE FIRST CHAPTER HERE, and then offer your ideas and vote for any of your favorites. Keep in mind that some of the content was informed by the original title (A**hole Christian Survival Guide: Prepare for the A-hole Apocalypse), but can be adjusted to work with a new title.

What’s in it for you: Aside from having the change to singlehandedly title my ninth book, you’ll also get your own credit for titling it inside the final book. And as an extra “thank you,” I’ll send you copies of my last six books, valued collectively at about $100. I do reserve the right to “veto” even the most popular title, and I also reserve the right to select one that doesn’t get the most votes, or something not even on the list. But the title with the most votes will still get the six books, and if I select your title, you’ll still get credit in the book, regardless of how many votes you got.

Read, vote and add to the list here:
