LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

As though the Right does not have its playbooks. Of course it does. The entire Religious Right has its home schooling, hate worldly culture, live righteous and holy lives and dominate everyone else handbooks and social programming, as does every single Evangelical and Fundamentalist church out there.

This is bulls**t for the writer to criticize activists on the Left who seek to raise a consistent message. Even if you don’t care for the message, to criticize mobilization or strategizing as somehow proper and righteous on the Right but evil and deceptive on the Left is hypocrisy.

For me the missing piece the Left needs is a solid commitment to peace, peacemaking and nonviolent resistance. If they will come round to following Jesus, and let go their ideological commitments when challenged to do so by following Jesus, they might well represent a real hope for America. I sure hope to see more and more so-called ‘Leftist’ Christians turn more and more to the underlying theology of shalom that will enervate their spirituality, awaken their ethical orientation and provide an intelligent and rational discourse to explain and explore such following of Jesus.
