This past Christmas was very exciting for our family, as one of my sons and his wife, announced that they were pregnant with their second child. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first grandson very much, and this news just doubles our family’s joy, expectations, and excitement for the new year. So this topic is very current for me, and I am enthusiastic about sharing my top 7 good Bible verses to announce a pregnancy.

I Samuel 1:27 (ESV) “For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him.”

This is a great verse to use as an announcement for a pregnancy, because it is part of the special story of Hannah and Samuel in the Bible. Hannah was barren, but she persistently cried out to the Lord requesting a son. God eventually answered her prayers with the birth of Samuel, and she was ecstatic. This verse acknowledges that it is God that grants us the petition for children. Many couples pray for a precious baby, so when a family realizes that they are pregnant they can give the Lord the credit.

Psalm 127:3 (ESV) “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

My daughter-in-law told me recently that this verse was especially appropriate in her opinion for announcing their pregnancy. They found out right before Christmas that they were expecting their second baby, and it resonated with her in a special way. She shared that Jesus’ birth was the ultimate gift to humanity, and the realization of a new child on the way during the Christmas season was also a very unique gift to their family. As the mother of four children myself, I definitely believe that each child is an amazing reward and heritage from the Lord.

Proverbs 17:6 (ESV) “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.”

Bible Verses To Announce A Pregnancy

Announcing the upcoming birth of a child to family and to grandparents can be a thrilling experience. Many future moms and dads are very creative in their announcements, and this has certainly been true with our son and daughter-in-love’s news of pregnancy. For our first grandchild, they gathered the family together and told us that they were joining Facebook. They told us they wanted help in choosing their new profile picture, and then there it was—a picture of them both holding a sign stating that they were pregnant. This second time, we were all gathered for Christmas, and she placed a special little stocking with the word “BABY” written on it on the mantle for everyone to see. We were all ecstatic with the news both times, and I totally agree that grandchildren are the crown of our life as we get older. They bring so much renewed joy and love into our lives.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 (ESV) “As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.”

Another great way to announce an upcoming birth is this verse. God’s ways are often a mystery to us, but He is incredible in everything he does. How exciting to announce a pregnancy by also admitting that God is in control of all things. Our bodies are so complex, and yet God makes the creation of new life seem so simple.

Isaiah 9:6 (ESV) “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

This prophetic verse in Isaiah is announcing the future birth of the Messiah, our Savior, hundreds of years before his arrival. But it is also a very appropriate verse to use in sharing that a couple is expecting a child. I love the fact that Jesus was called by these amazing and accurate titles even before his arrival, and I think that it is very appropriate for us as parents to begin declaring positive and powerful names over our children even in the womb as well. Our words can also be a prophetic and positive decree over each child.

James 1:17 (ESV) “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

A baby is always a gift from the Lord, and this verse highlights that fact. So it would be very appropriate to use this verse in announcing a pregnancy. God does give good and perfect gifts to his followers, and children are at the top of that list. There is always a lot of excitement associated with the hope of new life.

I Peter 2:2 (ESV) “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—.“

My final choice for verses announcing a pregnancy is this one found in I Peter. Since it is talking about spiritual milk and newborn infants, it seems like a good one to use as well. Family members will figure out quickly what the topic is when someone uses this verse in their revelation about an upcoming baby.

CONCLUSION

Announcing the upcoming birth of a new baby is an incredibly joyous occasion for most families, and I believe that the verses mentioned above are all good choices for helping with revealing the good news. Future moms and dads could print these on a sign or email them to family members, and I believe that the recipient will figure out the message very quickly. So if you are looking for an innovative way to announce the upcoming birth of a child, then I recommend using one or all of these seven good Bible verses.

When I am not working, I love spending time with my family and especially with my precious three-year-old grandson.
