Start your day off with a morning devotion.  Here are six morning devotions that you can use to start your day off right and a way to write your own as a seventh one.

Morning Devotion for His Glory

Dear Heavenly Father, your name is hallowed and You seek to always glorify Your name.  Please glorify Yourself at my expense.  May what I do today bring honor to Your name and may I live in such a way that I bring glory and honor to You to whom I owe my eternal salvation.  I earnestly seek your guidance in the path that I should go and that your bring me opportunity to have Your love shared with those who do not yet know You.  May I stay humble and may you be exalted because you resist the proud but give grace only to the humble (James 4:6) and that by remaining humble, I can see Your greatness.  The earth is already full of Your glory and so I pray that I can glorify it yet more through my words, my actions and my thoughts.  I ask these things in the strong name by which all authority has been given, Jesus Christ, amen.

Psalm 86:9 “All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.”

Morning Devotion for My Family’s Protection

Oh my beloved Father, I pray that you cover me and our family like an eagle covers her nest today so that we might be preserved to worship you.   The days are evil yet you have said that not one hair shall fall from our heads that you do not know of (Luke 21:18).   Keep us from the many trials today, if it is Your will, and bring us back safely to our homes today so that we might kneel to You and give you thanks for all that you have done for us in keeping us and preserving us for Yourself (John 10:28-29).   I know that your steadfast love never dies and is not diminished by our disobedience and that You will never love us more on our best days nor will You love us any less on our worst.  For those of us whom You have redeemed, you keep and preserve for Your coming kingdom (John 6:37, 39).  I thank You that you always listen to us and please hear me now;  keep us safely in Your hands and in Your arms and keep us from the Evil One in the Lord God our Savior’s name I pray, amen.

Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”

Bible Verses For Morning Devotional

Morning Devotion Declaring Your Greatness

God, my Father, you are so good to Your sons and daughters.  You are so mighty and majestic and the works you do will be declared by Your children for all eternity.  There is nothing that is impossible for you and you know the end from the beginning.  What God is there that can tell the oceans to stay and go no further?  What God is there that can tell the winds to go here and there and not resist?  What God can say to the storm clouds that gather, send down the rain, the lightings, and the thunder go here and there and not go at Your command? The earth is full of Your glory and You are so worthy to be worshiped.  How great you are O God and how many marvelous works have You performed that I have not seen with my eyes?  There is nothing that I can do of ourselves but I can do all things through the Son of God, Jesus Christ.  Please forgive me of my sins and cleanse me and create in me a clean heart for You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Job 38:8-11 “Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb, when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band, and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors, and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?”

Morning Devotional for Your Faithfulness

O Great God, Your are faithful to me even when I am not faithful to You.  Even though I sin You are faithful to forgive me when I confess to You.   I repent of my sins and I ask to please keep me from the sin of presumptuousness as I dare not presume on Your mercy and not understand You have remained faithful to me even when I have failed to give You glory for what you have done.  I thank You Lord for Your steadfast love that is never diminished and is not any less today by what I do.  Please keep me from presuming on Your grace and not take for granted what You are quick to forgive.  You are ever with me and always present; in the joys of friendship and in the hardships of those who hate and seek to harm me. You are the defender of the defenseless.  You are near the broken hearted and you will not despise the contrite in heart.  Forever faithful You are my God and I thank You that You an ever present help and aid in my times of need.

First Corinthians 1:4-9 “I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. “

Morning Devotions for Your Son’s Sacrifice

Oh dearest Father, thank you that I have access to the throne of grace through the intercessory atonement of Your Son, Jesus Christ, by whose death I am now seen by You as having Jesus’ own righteousness (2 Cor 5:21).  You no longer see the sinful, evil, wicked heart of mine but You see Jesus as my covering and by His blood, I am clothed in His righteousness and not a righteousness of my own, for I have nothing to offer you.  You placed Your wrath on Him so that I might have peace with You (Rom 5:1).  That is to wonderful for me to even describe in words.  I thank God for Your Son’s supreme sacrifice that purchased me and redeemed me from the fiery pit of hell and brought me to the heavenly throne of God in prayer.  Thank you God for all you have done for me but above all, for loving me who was unlovable.

Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Morning Devotion for Your Kingdom to Come

Oh righteous Father, I pray for Your kingdom to come quickly and put an end to all the evil and suffering on this earth.   Only by Your strong hand can this world ever be made right.  There is so much in this world that cries out for the redemption and so I pray for Your kingdom to come swiftly and to rule in peace, righteousness, and glory when I and the other saints of God can fall down before You to worship You;  You who are worthy to be praised and honored and glorified.  Even though the earth is full of Your glory, those who are not Yours do not see this glory because they have been blinded by the god of this world, the Devil (2 Cor 4:4; John 12:40).  Come and break his earthly rule and cast him and his demons into their destined place of torment so that we might rule and reign with Your Great Son, Jesus Christ.  I eagerly await the time to worship alongside those brothers and sisters who are now with You, who have passed from death to life and are present with You now.  Many of these brothers and sisters are those who I have never met.  I cannot imagine the joy that will come someday and what I am going through in this life cannot compare with what they will be like (Rom 8:18).

Revelation 22:20 “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

Write Your Own Devotion to God

I am leaving you as the seventh devotion a place to write your own.  You can use the Psalms to pray back to God as a morning devotion as these are not only songs but prayers.  You can use the template of the Lord’s Prayer (Matt 6:9-13) not to be repeated as it is but to use this as a way to make your own devotion.  Prayers do not have to be long, only sincere.  Pray your heart out…cry out to Him, seek to glorify Him and to cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you.  Peter wrote that you should be “casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Pet 5:7) and so “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you [and] he will never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22).
