The Wonder of God’s Love

Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Isn’t it amazing that the God over all creation would look down on people that disobey Him and say, “Those are my people…I am willing to send my Son to die for them.”  Yet, that is exactly what God has done for you and for me.

I have known Jesus as my Lord and Savior for as long as I can remember.  My mother led me to Christ when I was 5 years old which was my earliest memory as a child.  But the older I get and the more I reflect and meditate on the Word of God, the more I am awestruck by the love of God for me.  It is so hard to even try to comprehend how God could look down on sinners and say that He loves us enough to send His Son Jesus to be humiliated and die for people that are unworthy.  That is such a picture of grace and mercy and love to us.  The Bible is clear that He loves us even when we are still sinners.   Even when there is nothing of any redeeming characteristic in us, He still loves us.  He loves people that will never turn and seek His forgiveness and that is amazing too.

I hope that you have come to know and accept this love of God.  This is something that makes me stop and be thankful and to praise Him for this Wonder of His love.  God wants to make you a child of His by making you new when you turn to Him.  God doesn’t tell us that we have to clean up first or give us a list of things to do to become acceptable to Him.  No the opposite is true, in that God says just as Romans 5:8 says, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  That is the greatest gift that any of us can ever receive and it is a free gift.

Blessed by God’s mercy,

Pastor Daryl
