Why is an Evangelical Pastor Excited About Moonlight Winning Best Picture?
Last updated on: March 9, 2017 at 10:30 am By Jonathan Dorst
I am an Evangelical pastor who is conservative theologically, believing the historic orthodox doctrines of Christianity, including the inerrancy of Scripture, the unique sufficiency of Christ, and the establishment of marriage as between one man and one woman. And I’m also excited that Moonlight won Best Picture at the Academy Awards just a few weeks ago. Read more

A Scriptural Argument For Infant Baptism
Last updated on: March 3, 2017 at 9:12 am By Jack Lee
Ephesians 6 is not a chapter I see people often directed to when they inquire about covenant theology or infant baptism. Yet, I find it to contain some intriguing text for the subjects. It speaks volumes about the relationship of children to their parents and God. It also gives us insightful historical references and context that we can draw compelling conclusions from. When you study this text in detail you find that covenant theology is clearly seen and applied. Once this foundation is established, we discover a persuasive argument for infant baptism. Read more

Jesus: The Comforting and Threatening Light
Last updated on: March 2, 2017 at 10:42 am By Jonathan Dorst
Jesus is like fire, both a comforting and threatening light. He’s comforting to those who are tired of the darkness and want to see; to those who are willing to come into the light and to be known. But He’s threatening to those who don’t want to be known. He is a threat to those who are building their own kingdoms in the dark, and who are making money off of other people being in the dark Read more

Beauty and the Beast’s Gay LeFou Shouldn’t Shock Anyone
Last updated on: March 1, 2017 at 4:30 pm By Grayson Gilbert
It shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise to anyone that the upcoming Beauty and the Beast revamp includes a gay rendition of the character LeFou. Disney has long been ahead of the curve when it comes to things like offering benefits to gay partners, despite the backlash they received from many. While others spent hours upon hours disseminating a subplot within the movie Frozen that proposed Elsa as Disney’s first gay character (or Kristoff as Disney’s first gay... Read more

You Carried Me – a Review of an Abortion Survivor Memoir
Last updated on: February 21, 2017 at 6:20 pm By Grayson Gilbert
If we are brutally honest, most Westerners seek to avoid thinking about anything related to death, even though we know our trajectory leads to the grave. Our funerals are set up in a manner where this even rings true, as the mortician does their best to make the recently deceased look as if they are still alive. We even couch our terms similarly, softening the blow that mortality brings to the living by referring to the dead as those who... Read more

Even with Swole Arms, Steven Furtick Still Unable to Lift Truth from Bible
Last updated on: February 15, 2017 at 6:48 pm By Grayson Gilbert
Elevation Church, North Carolina – In his rather candid and enigmatic style, Steven Furtick plainly told interviewers yesterday that despite his grueling gym routine, he is still having an immense amount of difficulty lifting truth out of the Bible. “I’ve been hitting the gym three times a day for the past few years – and I’ve really amped up my core exercises, but no matter how many of them heavy weights I’m lifting, I still can’t get a good grip... A High Regard for Scripture is Not Bibliolatry
Last updated on: February 15, 2017 at 9:26 am By Grayson Gilbert
There generally seems to be confusion when I have made the claim that some readers are denying the authority of the scriptures when they disagree on matters of orthodoxy (i.e. Trinitarian teaching, homosexuality, women pastors, and even pastoral blunders). Most will come back with a pithy reply that I am guilty of reductionism or even more simply, that I have a high level of arrogance in the confidence placed in my interpretive abilities. Others will make the charge that I... Read more
