What Happened Yesterday…
Last updated on: March 12, 2026 at 12:03 pm By Sherry Antonetti
We’ve all heard the story of Mary and Joseph finding Jesus after three days, but somehow, we’ve not let ourselves feel the reality of that helplessness that must have been experienced by the two entrusted with the son of God. Yesterday, I got a lesson on that reality. Trusting in God, surrendering my despair and holding to hope. I must thank everyone for “the only possible ending of this story.” My friend promised this over and over again, I think... Read more

Yesterday and all the Days to Come
Last updated on: March 17, 2026 at 3:54 pm By Sherry Antonetti
I spent a lot of yesterday, just feeling the weight of twelve years minus my dad. In truth, it was longer than that, because Alzheimers started stealing him away over the years before, but I hold tight to the memories of when he broke through the disease. They stand like defiant rocks of truth against the hard eroding ocean of force the loss of memory brings. The big ones that linger, when I attended my goddaughter’s baptism, the next day... Read more

Ash Wednesday, Ashes, Links and Other Things
Last updated on: February 18, 2026 at 5:13 pm By Sherry Antonetti
So today is Ash Wednesday. The day holds a lot of memories for me, including the death of my father. I wrote about it here. Grief shows up in many ways, today it opted for listlessness. I could do all the things, but they felt like they lacked salt. Additionally, I’ve been blessed the past two weeks to have two pieces published over at the Catholic Standard. Just before Saint Valentine’s Day, I wrote about “the most romantic year ever”... Read more

We Are Being Given Skim Milk
Last updated on: February 17, 2026 at 10:37 am By Sherry Antonetti
Over the past thirty years, one could call me a news junkie. I listened to talk radio. I read the paper, watched the news at least a few times a week, and read online. When radio stations changed formats, I chaffed. When they took on hosts that specialized in rage, I left. Recently, with events like the firing of 40% of the Washington Post, I’ve noticed in the radio station’s output, a thinning of the news. Watching the BBC, reading... Read more

Whoever We Hate, We should Pray For
Last updated on: January 30, 2026 at 10:40 am By Sherry Antonetti
Christ on the cross offers us redemption, and invites us to particpate in the salvation of the world. He invites us to be the body of Christ, and thus to enter into his great heart, to love others as He does, and to bleed for them, for love of them. Whosoever we call “them,” is who we are called to love. What does that mean? It means treating people with dignity. It means recognizing that there is no one, no... Read more

Be Salt, not Ice
Last updated on: January 27, 2026 at 4:51 pm By Sherry Antonetti
The whole neighborhood is a sheet of eight inch ice, and the internet is coated with an even harder shell that’s thicker and harder to crack. Everyone knows about what happened in Minnesota, about the gunning down a man who was down, using ten shots and then pretending it was in self defense. Yesterday, and the day before, my kids and I spent several hours chopping through what Mother Nature dumped on our driveway. We live on a large lot,... Read more

The Purpose is The Better Portion
Last updated on: January 2, 2026 at 10:09 am By Sherry Antonetti
When a theme keeps popping up in my head, I know it’s the Holy Spirit saying, “Hey, wake up, pay attention –this is important.” Usually it takes the Holy Spirit fifteen plus times to get me to figure it out. It is part of why I write at all. It allows me to wander my own brain until I come across what it is the Holy Spirit wants me to recognize. For the past three years, I’ve waged war with... Read more

Hello Dusty Old Blog
Last updated on: December 31, 2025 at 3:51 pm By Sherry Antonetti
Need to resolve to do some writing this year upcoming. Have been, but it’s been mostly for professional or personal reflection. I have submitted some stuff some places and been pleased to have been published. My most recent is over at The Catholic Standard, https://www.cathstan.org/voices/new-years-resolutions-of-faith-before-the-jubilee-year-ends. The Jubilee Year of Hope is about to end, and I happened to spend an hour in adoration this past week, where the Holy Spirit reminded me, there is still time to help souls in... Read more

Perfect Timing
Last updated on: December 4, 2025 at 12:40 pm By Sherry Antonetti
So yesterday was the anniversary of my mom’s birth, and death. One year ago today, she died. I’d been scheduled to fly down the next day to spend the weekend visiting, and she passed before I could get there. Suffice it to say, her childrens’ hearts, still feel broken from that moment. We’d lost our dad ten years before, on March 5, 2014, Ash Wednesday. So Dad is forever linked to Lent, and my mother, to Advent. Liturgically, it leaves... Read more

This Advent
Last updated on: December 3, 2025 at 9:53 pm By Sherry Antonetti
A friend and fellow mother of many and writer, posted about praying this Advent, for our commander in chief. Like all things associated with this president, it immediately drew the irritation and ire of the internet. She was accused of virtue signaling. Additionally, people raged that no one should be praying for someone who creates bad outcomes for others. The implication from some of the criticism was that those who supported her position were standing with those most affected by... Read more
