Over at the Register This Week
Last updated on: February 16, 2022 at 5:42 pm By Sherry Antonetti
This week, while at adoration, I asked God if He still wanted me to be a writer. Today, I discovered a piece I’d written was published –the first of 2022: https://www.ncregister.com/blog/prayer-works. Cue God laughing. Bonus points…I taught students today about Dramatic Irony before I found this out. I love God’s sense of humor, even if I’m the punch line. Read more

Some Miracles We Recognize
Last updated on: February 15, 2022 at 8:12 pm By Sherry Antonetti
Saturday, Paul’s team played basketball. He loves the game. He understands two things: shooting and defense. He’s not bad on defense. In practice, he never tires of shooting. Sometimes he’s aiming at the raised basket (fifty feet in the air), but he persists. At games, he runs full out and doesn’t seem to tire. He’s all heart. His teammates have learned as has his mother during practice, that he can to some degree, really play. It’s something that his coach... Read more

I finished Chemo!
Last updated on: February 12, 2022 at 10:13 am By Sherry Antonetti
Since you folks have followed this on Patheos, you deserve an update. I FINISHED MY CHEMO TODAY! YES. Everybody Mambo! Today, I received my chemo crown. I’m done. Hair follicles start your engines. I’m expecting peach fuzz by Easter. Those of you who showed up some place on my face but not on my head, eyelashes or eyebrows, please enjoy your permanent early retirement. Thank you for playing. It seemed appropriate on my last day to meet a woman starting... Read more

Love the Olympics, Have to Ask a Question…
Last updated on: February 9, 2022 at 9:52 pm By Sherry Antonetti
So I love watching the Olympics. Summer, Winter, it doesn’t matter, I love the epic unpredictable nature of all the sports upon sports upon sports. Some of my favorites include the snowboarding and the freestyle skiing and Super G, in addition to the ice dancing and the Nordic Combined. Having watched the Olympics every night for multiple nights, the same question formed in my head that always remains unanswered. How do the mothers cope with this reality before it is... Read more

Be a Tassel
Last updated on: February 7, 2022 at 7:33 pm By Sherry Antonetti
We’ve all heard the Gospel so many times, we no longer hear what it says, what it promises, what it reveals. Two weeks ago, we heard the story of Jesus raising the little girl of twelve from death for an official who came and asked. In the midst of the story, we heard of a little miracle: A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel* on... Read more

Not a Memoir
Last updated on: February 5, 2022 at 10:41 pm By Sherry Antonetti
When I write my blog, it isn’t a promise that everything will be precise, but it will ring true. I use my blog to tell stories, to preserve memories and often, to discover what it is is I actually think. It’s been my process, my means of discovering how to reflect more deeply on the every day and what it means than I otherwise would. However, I have a history, of getting proficient at things and stopping…be it piano, be... Read more

NFL Opts to Forego Superbowl and Keep Scheduling Playoffs
Last updated on: February 2, 2022 at 5:19 pm By Sherry Antonetti
Given the way playoffs have finished the past few weeks, it might be more profitable for the NFL as a whole, to embrace this sort of marketing. Sudden Death This weekend and everyone to come…until Opening Day of Baseball! Kickers are becoming the superstars of this new sporting world, kicking field goals sixty plus yards, blind folded, in minus fifteen degrees with a seventy-mile per hour wind and a full pass rush. Short of having drones airdropping receivers into coverage... Read more

The Joy Project
Last updated on: January 31, 2022 at 3:15 pm By Sherry Antonetti
Honestly, we’re not done with this pandemic. We’re not done and we’re so tired and so eager to be done, we are ready to just dismiss any new information that says “We’re not done yet.” Our desire to endure any more quarantine, any more shut downs, any more precautions has reached the beyond saturation point. However…the disease does not care that we have fatigue born of enduring Covid lock downs. In the past year, when we’ve opened up, I’ve come... Read more

Ordinary Time Still Passes When We’re Not Looking
Last updated on: January 27, 2022 at 11:26 am By Sherry Antonetti
I am an older parent. People mistake me for a grandmother with my youngest, and my older ones for the parents. It shocks me to learn that I am so much older than everyone else as I discovered while chatting as our daughters played basketball. The thing about having children, is at some point, you stop wanting them to get older or at the very least, you want to stop getting older, so that you attack showing the world to... Read more

After all the News of Last Week
Last updated on: January 24, 2022 at 9:29 pm By Sherry Antonetti
This weekend served as a palate cleanser…dull, ordinary, uneventful and mercifully, covid free and not freezing. We went to the late mass and as it happened, my child who comes but does not believe, always listens to the homily. So it kills me when the priest meanders or turns the Gospel into an opportunity to pound a particular point not connected with the Gospel or any of the readings. He listens. He catches it. He feels justified in laughing at... Read more
