Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
If you are curious about what role Mary plays in your life and greater society as a whole than you will want to check out Mary’s Role in the Third Millenium. This three CD set from Saint Joseph Communications is presented by Dr. Scott Hahn and Dr. Mark Miravalle. The two present the talks in a discussion type forum that was interesting to say the least.
In these three CDs you will first and foremost learn about the four dogmas of Mary. These four dogmas are infallible proclamations by the Church that define the Church’s understanding of Mary. They are as follows:
1 –Mary Mother of God defined at the Council of Ephesus in 431
2 – Immaculate Conception of Mary proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854
3 – Assumption of Mary into Heaven proclaimed by Pope Pius X in 1950
4 – The Perpetual Virginity of Mary in place since the 3rd century
In addition to these four established dogmas time is spent discussing a potential fifth dogma. Much work has been done and there is much support for this fifth dogma which would name Mary as Co-redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate. Dr. Miravalle has been an active participant in the efforts of research and promotion of this fifth dogma so it was especially interesting hearing he and Scott discuss the progress being made.
From the publisher:
Have you ever wondered what the Marian dogmas are and why we have them? For instance, why is Mary called Theotokos (Mother of God)? Or where can you find Mary’s perpetual virginity in the Bible?
Marian dogmas present key truths about Mary, which in turn safeguard the truth about Jesus. Dr. Scott Hahn and Dr. Mark Miravalle explain the four Marian dogmas and why these dogmas point forward to a fifth and final dogma that directly affects you!
Discover the truth about Mary from these two powerhouse theologians and illuminate your understanding of Mary’s God-given role as “God’s Masterpiece” in His work of redemption.
