Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
2013 was my first full year of blogging at The Catholic Book Blogger so this marks my first opportunity to look over a full year of the books I have read. It was quite a year of reading some great books and here are my top picks for the year (in no particular order). This by no means lessens the others, these just stood out to me as the best.
Faith of Our Fathers: Why The Early Christians Still Matter and Always Will
Author: Mike Aquilina
Publisher: Emmaus Road Publishing
This is a great book that serves as a wonderful introduction to the Early Church. It’s one I highly recommend and one that started me on a journey of deeper research on the Church Fathers.

Strange Gods: Unmasking the Idols in Everyday Life
Author: Elizabeth Scalia
Publisher: Ave Maria Press
Here’s a book that made me reconsider a lot of things in my life. If you are looking for a book that makes you accountable……this it.

Consuming the Word: The New Testament and the Eucharist in the Early Church
Author: Scott Hahn
Publisher: Image Catholic Books
A wonderful book on the Word and the fact that we are to consume it as well as the Eucharist and make both a part of our very being. Another highly recommended book by Scott Hahn.

Camerado, I Give You My Hand
Author: Maura Poston Zagrans
Publisher: Image Catholic Books
This is the inspiring story of Father David Link. Maura paints a genuine story of human compassion and a modern day example of how one person can truly make a difference. A must read.

God’s Bucket List: Heaven’s Surefire Way to Happiness in this Life and Beyond
Author: Teresa Tomeo
Publisher: Image Catholic Books
A book that gives us all a gentle reminder. The often times petty things we desire are nothing compared to what God desires for us.

Louder than Words : The Art of Living as a Catholic
Author: Matt Leonard
Publisher: Our Sunday Visitor
This is a solid book that does a great job of explaining the Catholic faith in laymen’s terms while still frequently quoting various Popes and Saints. A great read for cradle Catholics or those considering joining the Church.

Bambinelli Sunday: A Christmas Blessing
Author: Amy Welborn
Illustrator: Ann Engelhart
Publisher: Franciscan Media
A great children’s book that I hope will launch a new tradition at local parishes. It has inspired me to talk to a few of my local priests about starting Bambinelli blessing here.

Be A Man : Becoming the Man God Created You to Be
Author: Father Larry Richards
Publisher: Ignatius Press
I actually read this book in 2012 but I reviewed it this past year. This is the book that changed my life and it can change yours too!
