Don’t Have Sex If You’re Not Ready To Be A Father 2022-11-30T01:10:03-05:00 Mark Wilson

Happy Father’s Day Dads.

The message of Mother’s Day is “Mothers are amazingly good at mothering! They deserve a special day!” Whereas the message of Father’s Day is: “We’re only doing this because we have Mother’s Day.” To all my fellow dads out there: Have a happy Father’s Day. We might not deserve it, but let’s enjoy it. Let’s praise whatever meals we are fed; let’s beam happily at whatever gifts our kids give us; and above all let’s remember that the real gift is getting to spend these moments with them.

And then — because frankly we are not as good at these things as the mothers are — let’s treat ourselves to a nap.-Dave Barry

I was recently told that a friend of mine’s 15 year old is engaged in sexual activity with his girlfriend. They are not old enough to drive a car or vote, but are engaging in a life changing exercise that makes new life. As I was thinking of a post to write for Father’s Day I came up with some advice for horny young men who are eager to physically bond with a member of the opposite sex.

Don’t spill your seed into a Flower if your not ready to become a Father.

Even if you only intend to enjoy just the feeling this activity sends to the joy centers of your brain, the sperm you spew has one and only goal. To find a female egg, fuze with it and create a new human being.

Gee Dad! How can I take you seriously if you don’t know the difference between your and you’re.

Just because I’m imperfect doesn’t mean what I say isn’t true on this particular issue. And don’t be snarky son. If you’re not ready to take the responsibilities that may result from sexual activity, you really shouldn’t be engaged in that activity. Sex is not a game. It’s not just another activity you can harmlessly engage in without consequences. Because even though you can have your jollies and walk away, the woman you knock up is stuck with a person growing in her womb. A person you helped put there. A person who will need the love of a father to help guide them into becoming a fully functioning adult, much like yourself.

Taking care of the mother of your child is the first step in being a good dad. Hopefully you love this girl you slept with. Even if you don’t that child is still yours. Don’t be one of the many deadbeat dads who walk away from their kids by neglecting the person who will spend the most time with your offspring, their mom. Now there are many issues I am not addressing in this short blog post. It would take a lot more writing to cover all the things I am leaving out. My overall point right now is that you who got this woman pregnant are responsible for producing this hidden child in her body. You may have just wanted  sexual thrills. But now you have to man up to be the one thing this activity has made you.

A Father.

Walking away because you don’t want to want to be a dad makes you a selfish jerk and a real loser. If your not a jerk and have some form of a moral compass you can prepare to become a Dad. Here are some of the ways to become a good Dad.

1. It starts as I said before by loving the mother. The best thing to do if you really love the girl you desire is to WAIT AND PUT ON THE BREAKS. Hold off on the activity that will make a child by waiting to you are in a exclusive relationship where you pledge your heart to her and her alone, forever. We call this marriage.

2. You can love the mother more by loving something higher than yourself. Loving timeless changeless principles such as Truth, Goodness, Beauty, Justice and Love will make you a more grounded person. We Catholics and other religious people sum these things up in a person we call God.

3. Have a good work ethic. If you’re a dad, you are no longer a kid living for yourself. You need to help provide for your family now. Your wife and child will rely on you to help take care of them.

4. Love your child like their life depended on it. Because it does. Father’s who care for their kids help them develop into good human beings who in turn will bring that goodness into society.

My Father Was a Real Good Dad and was a good example of one. My wife’s dad, John Nealon, was a good dad and is still doing a good job still carrying for his daughters and sons in Law. I’m glad that I get to be a part of his fatherly care, especially since mine has passed on.

And I thank all the many priests who have been a good Father to me and other people. A Priest like this guy who inspired his Father to become a Deacon.

Eric Seitz was ordained to the priesthood August 8, 2020 for the Diocese of Fargo. Two months later, his father Ben was ordained to the diaconate.

There is more that I could say on this topic, but this is quick short post to honor Father’s Day and to remind boys with raging hormones to not release them till their ready to be a dad.
