Until We Meet Again… 2022-11-30T01:07:36-05:00 Mark Wilson

It’s 1:42 AM in the morning when I start to write this particular post.
The snow seems to have stopped falling and I could go out and shovel it.
It’s not deep but I like to keep the driveway clear.
But I have to get up at 6:00AM to be at work for 7:00 AM. It takes me awhile to get up.

I have a sleeping disorder which prevents me from getting the rest that I need in order to function better during the day.
I have decided to give up looking at FB as much during Lent, but not entirely. I keep in touch with people and find out about current news and events.
And it was browsing on FB that I just discovered that yet another classmate of mine from school has died.
I immediately felt restricted and claustrophobic in my soul.

Because I’m a writer, I felt inspired and so I wrote this post.
Sometimes we don’t remember people till we die.

I needed to have the lights on and I walked around and prayed a chaplet of Divine Mercy for his soul and all the souls of my classmates who have died.
Another person I would never see again in this life. His name was Bill and they are going to have a virtual Zoom memorial service for him in April.
I haven’t heard from this guy in years.  We interacted when we were younger as we were in the same class together.
I don’t think we were great friends but we weren’t enemies either.

But I remember him.
I remember Brendon who died a few months ago.
I remember my neighbor and classmate who died a few years ago.
I remember Danny who died right after high school whose funeral I went to.

Jerry General

Several classmates of mine have died.
Several people I know have died.
And they will continue to die.
I won’t know about all of them.
I won’t always get a notice on FB or see the obit in the paper.
If I die they might not know about me.

Last year my friend Pattie Goodale died and her mother and brother died.

I wrote about her death and talked about it in several articles I wrote.

Preparing For Death JUNE 24, 2020

My mother died in the last several years.

May be an image of 2 people

Someday my sisters will die and my cousins also.

My extended family will die.

My friends who went to my wedding will die.

My coworkers whom I work with on a daily basis will die.

The stranger who takes my order at McDonald’s or who rings up my purchases at Stop and Shop will die.

The internet personalities whom articles I read and Youtube videos I watch will die.

Readers of this article will someday die.

The people I only know from on-line discussions who make great and daft comments will die.

My adoptive daughter will one day die, hopefully not before us and without reconciliation first.

I hope you will let us see our granddaughter at some point. She is a baby now, but hopefully not for a 100 years

she’ll die also.

My beautiful best friend and lover who is my wife will also die someday.

I will die someday.

If I should die I want to say to you my friends, family, classmates, and readers of the Catholic Bard
that I’m glad that I have interacted with you in anyway that I did.
Maybe I haven’t seen you in years or maybe I saw you last week.
Maybe we never meet except online.
Maybe we exchanged words either good or bad regarding a post I wrote.
Maybe we talked in person or on the phone.
Maybe I saw you at the last reunion we had
or the last get-together we had.
Maybe I hugged you at some point or would if I have the chance.

I might never see some of you again.
I might never talk to some of you again.
Maybe I never did to begin with.

I probably missed some people.

Whoever you are and whatever our relationship I want to say I ask God to bless you and I hope to see you again or first time someday.
Either in this life or the next.

I love you all, even those of you who despise me.

It’s now 2:30 AM.

Time to finish up this article and post it and go to bed.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face

May the rain fall softly on your fields
And until we meet again
May you keep safe
In the gentle loving arms of God

For everything there is a season
A time for meeting
A time to say goodbye
In all things
God is near
Always guiding your way

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall softly on your fields
And until we meet again
May you keep safe
In the gentle loving arms of God

For everything there is a season
A time for laughter
A time for tears and pain
In all things
God is near
Always guiding your way

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall softly on your fields
And until we meet again
May you keep safe
In the gentle loving arms of God
