Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
This resource is provided again this week for all those women and men out there who are pro-choice, pro-faith, pro-family, and pro-prayer. They do exist.
40 Days of Prayer to Stop the War on Women is a campaign by Faith Aloud, with a prayer a day beginning September 28 and leading up to the election.
“Faith Aloud is a movement to give spiritual support to persons making reproductive decisions. As people of religious faith and conviction, Faith Aloud supports reproductive justice for every person. Our struggle for reproductive freedom includes issues concerning: abortion, adoption, choice, LGBTQ rights, Same-sex marriage, reproductive health and their intersections with faith and spirituality.”
Here are the prayers for the fifth week:
Day 29: We pray that everyone in America will enjoy equal freedom, for health, education, marriage, housing, and employment.
Day 30: We pray that hate speech will not be tolerated in America and that our lives will reflect God’s love.
Day 31: We pray that no one be allowed to oppress others while hiding behind religious jargon.
Day 32: We pray for working women, that their value be determined by skill and not by gender.
Day 33: We pray for all people to have the legal right to marry the person they love.
Day 34: We pray for pharmacists who dispense emergency contraception, that they not judge women by refusing to dispense it based on personal values.
Day 35: We pray that all our government health agencies will base their policies on scientific fact and not ideology.
There is much work to do. Praying, voting … these are just pieces of a larger effort.
