Every Monday, I’ll share a simple spell or charm that I use in my own busy practice. Remember, magic doesn’t always have to be a formal affair!

Summer is winding down (smell those back to school supplies!), so it feels like a good time to organize and reconsecrate my workspace. Since I work from home, I have a lot of freedom with the spells and charms I can use to make my work zone fresh and inspiring, but I know that’s not a luxury a lot of people have. You can use this simple charm wherever you work, even if you aren’t out of the broom closet with your coworkers.: just charge the stone at home first!

You will need:

  1. Set the stone in the water, submerging it completely.
  2. Think about your ideal work situation. Do want to cultivate clarity of mind, or are you focused on using your words most effectively? Do you want to build relationships with coworkers, or focus more on your internal work, regardless of a shared space? Voice these intentions as you retrieve the stone from the water.
  3. Don’t dry it off, but let the droplets air dry on the stone. You can hold it while it dries, or set it on a paper towel while you wait.
  4. Place the stone in your workspace. It can be somewhere unobtrusive, like behind your computer monitor, or front and center. Wherever it feels right is perfect!
  5. Whenever you find yourself frustrated in your work, touch the stone or look at it for a few moments, and call to mind the intentions you set when you charged the stone. Take a deep breath, and return to your work.

What kind of magic do you bring into your workplace?
