Cheerfulness
Last updated on: October 19, 2011 at 8:35 am By Kellie "Red"
Food for your heart this morning… When I see someone sad, I always think, she is refusing something to Jesus…Cheerfulness is a sign of a generous and mortified person who forgetting all things, even herself, tries to please God in all she does for souls. Cheerfulness is often a cloak which hides a life of sacrifice, continual union with God, fervor and generosity. A person who has this gift of cheerfulness very often reaches a great height of perfection. For... Read more

The Man on the Plane
Last updated on: October 17, 2011 at 5:30 am By Katrina
As I was boarding the airplane on my way home from a trip a couple of weeks ago, there was a slight seat mix-up. The elderly woman who was supposed to sit in the middle seat was sitting in the window seat, taking a nap, and I was sitting in the aisle. Along came the man who I presumed had the middle seat. He stopped and checked his ticket, and I stood to let him in. Rather than moving into... Read more

Indian Summer
Last updated on: October 14, 2011 at 6:00 am By Juris Mater
It may be taking its toll on the pumpkin crop… But there will be plenty of dreary, cold, pumpkiny days to come… And Sunday bike rides to the ice cream shop in October are the bomb. Read more

Thoughts for Thursday
Last updated on: October 13, 2011 at 2:36 pm By Kellie "Red"
What am I cooking? Fajitas! Chicken, peppers, onions, black beans, homemade salsa (still have some Jersey tomatoes!), lettuce, and cheese. This is a real kid favorite in our home, and Thursday is the one night a week we don’t rush out the door to an evening activity. What are my weekend plans? Soccer, two games. Farmers Market. Time with cousins (Mr. Red’s sister has 5 children of similar ages to mine and that always makes for a fun day). What... Read more

Fall Celebration
Last updated on: October 12, 2011 at 8:00 am By texasmommy
The boys and I have spent the last few weeks reading through our apple book basket and since, to my great dismay, there is no apple picking in our area, we decided to have our own apple harvest party. I bought a bunch of different kinds of apples we invited some grandparents and we had an apple tasting party. Simple, easy and sweet, and so much fun! Read more

Half-Time Snacks
Last updated on: October 11, 2011 at 3:41 pm By Kellie "Red"
For the past month, we have been in full soccer mode. Our Saturdays are spent at the soccer field, and with only two children on teams, we regularly have practices 2-3 nights per week. The kids are loving the time outdoors, the competition, and the new friendships, and we are truly enjoying spending our weekends watching games and killing downtime on the playground. There is, unfortunately, one thing we are not loving about soccer season—half-time snacks. At some point in... Read more

A Great Weekend
Last updated on: October 10, 2011 at 5:31 pm By Katrina
We had a great weekend here in our house, and although we were busy with many out-of-the-home obligations, we also found plenty of time to just hang out together at home. One of the blessings this weekend was that neither ET or I had “chores” that we were trying to accomplish, other than a quick grocery run on Saturday afternoon. This rarely happens – usually I need to run a longer errand, or ET is fixing something around the house,... Read more

A Sweatpant Kind of Day
Last updated on: October 7, 2011 at 10:36 am By Bethany "B-mama"
It is one of those lazy, sweatpant kind of days around here. The fall weather is descending slowly upon our area, creating that lovely morning chill enough to send me skirting out of my pj’s directly into the next best thing–sweatpants! The baby awoke this morning 2 days-post-immunizations, lethargic and needing to cuddle. She went willingly to a morning nap at 9am. What was a sweatpanted-mother to do but crawl into my own bed and take a nap too?! God... Read more

It’s Not Fair!!
Last updated on: October 5, 2011 at 1:25 pm By Mary Alice
Leo has been in a phase of telling us all that everything is “not fair.” For example, it is not fair that other people can stay up later than him, it is not fair that he cannot watch TV whenever he wants, it is not fair that it is raining when he wants to go outside. This is part of being 3, and it is adorable in it’s irrationality, I love the idea that one might even expect anything to... Read more
