Instead of Watching the Super Bowl, This Businessman Said He’d Do this for Veterans Instead

Instead of Watching the Super Bowl, This Businessman Said He’d Do this for Veterans Instead 2018-02-05T17:25:27-05:00 Bristol Palin

Well, some people really inspire.  Such is the case with a North Carolina businessman Brandon Patrick who recently posted his plans for Sunday night.  They did not include watching the Superbowl.

“I will not be watching the Superbowl, due to the fact that the NFL has rejected a veterans’ commercial urging people to stand for the National Anthem,” he wrote. “And for that, Pro1 Services will be cleaning Veterans’ headstones and mosuleums (sic) for the entire duration of this stupid Superbowl…  for free.”  He then went to ask for a list of cemeteries that had the most veterans buried there.  Here is his post, that got a lot of national attention:

Patrick was referring to the fact that AMVETS officials reported the National Football League rejected their $30,000 ad buy for the Super Bowl, which encouraged players and all Americans to #PleaseStand.  The ad also encouraged people to donate money to a Congressionally approved charity. Can you imagine why the NFL would reject such an ad?

Well, the NFL’s excuse was pretty lame.  They didn’t want the Superbowl to be political.  Wait, isn’t that what we’ve been saying all along, as you let (then) San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick sit during the National Anthem and disrespect this nation?

As Mark Meckler wrote, “Wait, so football isn’t the place for a political statement?  Isn’t that what patriotic Americans have been saying all along? McCarthy said AMVETS didn’t respond to a request for a content change fast enough and therefore missed the deadline. Sounds suspicious to me.”  Exactly.  He went on to write, “Can’t they ever get this issue right?  Here’s a tip, I’ll give to you for free: err on the side of America and vets…  not your spoiled, rich, entitled athletes.”

People like Patrick are what make America great… precisely because they KNOW what makes America great.
