A post shared by Janice Dean (@janicedeanfnc) on Aug 8, 2017 at 7:29am PDT
Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean posted a photo of her social media earlier this month and decided to scroll through the comments. She stopped when she got to one from a lady named JoAnn.
“Dear Janice,” she wrote. “Please stop allowing Fox to dress you in those short skirts. They are not flattering on you. You’re an attractive lady, love the 80s hair, but your legs are distracting every time you walk on screen.”
Ouch.
Dean, who is a size ten and gorgeous, decided not to ignore this mean comment. Instead she wrote back:
“Fox doesn’t dress me. I dress myself. I’m sorry if you don’t like my legs. I’m grateful I have them to walk with. You’re right. I don’t look like the typical person on TV, and I”m proud to be a size 10. Imagine that! You can always turn the channel if you’re offended by my huge legs.”
What a perfect response. After she posted her response, people gave her much positive feedback. (Thank goodness! She’s not even close to fat!) But one commenter stole the show. Apparently, Dean was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis ten years ago, and her first nurse, Jen, decided to make a statement:
“Dear Janice, I LOVE those strong legs. I LOVE that you stand tall, walk, run, squat, lunge, skip, jump and hop on those legs. You are blessed and have a blessing to have STRONG legs!!! Wear skirts proudly and show your STRONG legs!!! Love you, my angel.”
Wow. That’s powerful. Dean wrote, ““Because with MS, I could lose my ability to walk literally any day. So I’ve learned to be proud of my legs, and am grateful for them every day of my life.”
People need to stop judging women on their looks. Meteorology has nothing in the world to do with the size of someone’s legs. This heartwarming story reminds us that we should be thankful for the health God has given us.
