It only took 24 hours for Ahmed “Clock Kid” Mohamed and his family to announce their decision to leave America after meeting President Obama.

It seems that the Clock Kid and his family decided they wanted a place of true tolerance, where everyone’s human rights are respected and corruption is non-existent.

Let’s look at the family’s official statement to find out what bastion of freedom they are fleeing to…

From The Blaze:

“Our family has been overwhelmed by the many offers of support we have received since the unfortunate incident of Ahmed’s arrest. From the White House to Sudan, to Mecca, we have been welcomed by a variety of individuals, businesses and educational institutions, which have all provided Ahmed with real encouragement and the ambition to continue to work hard,” the family said in a statement.

“After careful consideration of all the generous offers received, we would like to announce that we have accepted a kind offer from Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) for Ahmed to join the prestigious QF Young Innovators Program, which reflects the organization’s on-going dedication to empowering young people and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity,” the family continued.

“This means that we, as a family, will relocate to Qatar where Ahmed will receive a full scholarship for his secondary and undergraduate education,” the family concluded.

HUH?!?!?!?

The family is leaving for Qatar?!?!?!?

Human Rights Watch’s latest report on Qatar cites laws discriminating against freedom of expression, women’s rights, and the treatment of migrant workers.

Of course, this is how this story ends. After the initial outrage machine kicked into high gear, actual experts analyzed Ahmed’s clock to realize something fishy was going on.

Whether that justified the arrest or what was actually going on is another matter for another day, one that may never come now that the sequel to “Clock Kid Gets Handcuffed” seems to be “Clock Kid Goes to Qatar.”

I expect significantly less freedom in the sequel than in the original. Hope Ahmed knows what he’s in for.
