My family is taking a step of faith and moving 17 hours away from the rest of our family. We will be moving to help out a church plant and I will be doing some more bible schooling. A week or so ago, our only car, that is actually quite new (2011) had a check engine light come on. This car has two degrees of “check engine”. It has one that is the typical, get your car checked whenever you can and the other is “engine malfunction: service now”. Clearly the latter is more significant, and that happen to be the light that came on. Long story short, our car is out of warranty and it was going to cost a lot of money and a lot of time, both of which we don’t have right now.

We were confused, we weren’t sure whether or not this was a sign from God letting us know we needed to stay. We seeked him in prayer and I put a post on Facebook inquiring if anyone had a “cheap and reliable car for sale”. Yesterday I received a text from a friend, he wanted to give us their car. As I read the text out loud to my wife we started to tear up, God had provided in our time of need when it looked like everything was falling apart.

Very few times in my life have I felt this humbled. This entire situation reminded me of our salvation. We don’t deserve it at all, in fact we deserve death and eternal punishment for our sin. But God in his goodness and love has dazzled us with his grace found in his son, Jesus Christ.

Psalms 34:8 – Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
