Birth Mothers Share Their Heroic Adoption Stories

Last updated on: January 14, 2018 at 5:30 pm   By Patty Knap

This is Katie’s story.  Katie is a birth mom who chose adoption for her daughter fourteen years ago.   I started my senior year at 16 years old, and pregnant. I was so scared and confused. The only thing I knew for certain was that abortion wasn’t an option for me. The next 9 months were so hard. Looking back I’m not sure how I managed. I juggled school, work, Doctor’s appointments and meetings with my adoption counselor. I celebrated... Read more

Meet the Heroes Who Defend Life at Manhattan’s PP Abortion Center

Last updated on: June 10, 2018 at 11:50 pm   By Patty Knap

Each first Saturday pro-lifers gather in front of Manhattan’s Margaret Sanger abortion center to help mothers choose life for their children. (Courtesy of Bikers for Life) Editor’s note: The last names of the pro-life activists were withheld at their request. A young woman sat on a stoop near the abortion facility in Manhattan named for Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, as sidewalk counselor and Biker for Life Lou, himself a post-abortive father, looked on. She was on a phone call, speaking French. He asked if he... Read more

For the first time, Catholics participating in this year’s March for Life in Washington, D.C., Jan. 19 can receive a plenary indulgence for doing so. “In virtue of the authority granted by our Holy Father, Pope Francis… a plenary indulgence can be obtained under the usual conditions…by the Christian faithful who are truly penitential and compelled by charity, if they take part in the sacred celebrations, along with the great assembly of people, throughout the whole course of the annual event that is... Read more

Mary’s House and Sr. Marie De Mandat Grancey

Last updated on: January 7, 2018 at 7:11 pm   By Patty Knap

Mary’s House in Ephesus, Turkey   For centuries, Christians wondered about the house of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where she lived after the death, resurrection, and ascension of her son Jesus.  It remained hidden and unknown until a french nun, Servant of God Sister Marie de Mandat-Grancey (1837-1915) became determined to find it. According to Christian Tradition, Mary, the Mother of God — whose solemnity is Jan. 1 — came to Ephesus in Asia Minor with John the Apostle after the resurrection of Christ and... Read more

Bishop Barron to FOCUS Students: Bold Speech Needed for Evangelization

Last updated on: January 6, 2018 at 12:05 am   By Patty Knap

Bishop Robert Barron of LA says that trust in the risen Christ is what should give us the courage to preach the truth boldly.  Speaking to a FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) Leadership Summit in Chicago this week, he applauded their evangelization efforts. “Through the Holy Spirit, the ascended, risen Christ commands his mystical Body the Church to do what he did, and to say what he said. That’s it…that’s the task of the Church to the present day.” The bi-annual conference trains student... Read more

Women Who’ve Had Abortions Suffer Negative Effects: New Study

Last updated on: February 8, 2018 at 7:57 pm   By Patty Knap

A new study of post-abortive women has found that women suffer long-term negative emotions after having an abortion. The research, published in the Winter 2017 issue of The Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, involved an anonymous  survey of 987 women who contacted a crisis pregnancy center for post-abortion care.  The women ranged in age from their 20’s through their 70’s. Most of them had had one abortion; others had several, up to nine in one case. The study, led... Read more

Planned Parenthood’s Deceptive New License Plates

Last updated on: January 1, 2018 at 7:19 pm   By Patty Knap

Planned Parenthood has announced a new license plate with the completely false scientific slogan, “My body my choice.”  An unborn baby is not the woman’s body or even a part of it,  a fact that is maybe especially obvious when the baby is a boy! The new abortion-supporting license plates will cost an additional $70 for Nebraska drivers. It appears Planned Parenthood has enough applications to support the plate and it told state officials that 263 Nebraska drivers want to promote abortion on... Read more

The Best New Year’s Resolutions Are Spiritual Ones

Last updated on: June 11, 2018 at 9:05 pm   By Patty Knap

Plenty of New Year’s resolutions involve starting a diet.   That’s so not original.  Plus diets often don’t work, at least not permanently.  Spiritual resolutions are the ones that can truly transform our lives. Thinking about how we can better ourselves in the coming year, spiritual resolutions should be at the top of our list.  They can bring the most change, much more signifcant change than other New Year’s resolutions. Spiritual resolutions have benefits for ourselves, those around us, and our intentions, with eternal consequences.  What could... Read more
