I go to  a lot of training classes for my job.

We have refresher training, where we learn things that we already know. We also spend a lot of time learning new processes and procedures.

I’m sure a lot of people have situations like this in their jobs.

I don’t like it…a lot of people don’t like it. Going to additional training is like going to an office meeting. I just want to get back to doing my work. Not that my job is fun, but I guess I thrive in work situations that are routine.

Life is like training. We’re always learning lessons and it’s often not all that pleasant while it’s happening. When my son jumps off something and hurts himself (as he does) I ask, “What did you learn?”

When I got divorced and felt weak and damaged, I asked myself, “What did I learn?”

A lot of times the hardest and most painful situations are the ones where we learn the most. Life is training.

We’re always learning how to do things better, how to be more aware and to make good decisions. We’re always learning how we can do better at engaging others with compassion and mindfulness.

And we all have a lot to learn.
