Shariah Law 101

Shariah law is God’s law. Plain and simple. It is not far from a Mormon that when asked “What do you believe?” rehearses a few Articles of Faith in order to concisely and clearly communicate fundamental and orthodox beliefs of the Church. The Mormon will not quote sections of House Bill 295 or the First Amendment of the Constitution. In the mind of the Mormon there is no need to quote a manmade law because the Articles of Faith are in harmony with the laws of the land. The Mormon will quote God’s law. So will a Muslim. Furthermore, Shariah law is grounded in the Old Testament and the New Testament. It is also grounded in the Quran. The Quran is very compatible with the Old Testament and the New Testament. Shariah law is not to be feared. Shariah law promotes peace and a Godly walk to over 1 billion people in the world. That is not a problem that is part of the global solution to all the world’s most grievous problems like hunger, disease, war, and the environment. Mormons make the same claim about the Doctrine and Covenants, the Book of Mormon, and the Pearl of Great Price. They are also in harmony with the Bible and are part of the solution to the world’s most grievous problems. Also, Shariah law is just as compatible with the United States Constitution as Mormon beliefs. PERIOD.

The claim that Shariah law is comparable to the Articles of Faith or a section of the Doctrine and Covenants or the Book of Mormon and compatible with the Constitution is likely very troubling to a Mormon that drinks Islamophobic Kool Aid. These Mormons and their likeminded peers (including radio talk show hosts) indict over one billion people because of the acts of a few. Nineteen people that fly planes into the Twin Towers and other targets do not reflect Sharia law or Islamic beliefs. These murderous acts are repugnant to Muslims world-wide.

The final point in Shariah law 101 is this: The God of the Quran is the God of the Bible. The God of the Quran is the God of the Book of Mormon (when the Book of Mormon was translated into Arabic the name “Allah” was used for the English name “God”). The God of the Quran is the God of the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. Can a Muslim commit horrible acts and claim those acts are in agreement with Shariah law? Yes. Can a Mormon commit horrible acts and claim those acts are in agreement with Mormon beliefs? Yes. A few posts ago I wrote about the Lafferty brothers who are throat-slitting murderers in the name of the God of the Mormons. Well, that is not Mormonism. So stop with the double standard. Learn about Islam—from a competent Muslim. Learn about Shariah law from an adherent Muslim that represents the billion followers of Allah. When you do this you will learn that Shariah law is as big a threat to the world as President Monson’s most recent sermon delivered in General Conference. And I will happily and successfully defend that claim “with one arm tied behind my back.” More to come.
