Last week, I asked you to join me in praying for a woman named Siobhan, a mother of two, who was fighting for her life. It saddens me to report that she died over the weekend. I would appreciate it if you would continue to pray for her soul and the family she leaves behind.

When I asked you to pray, I fully believed that God could miraculously heal Siobhan and allow her to live. He didn’t. With my limited human mind, I can’t tell you why it makes sense for this woman to be taken from her family. Honestly, it doesn’t. I was told that a great deal of family healing came out of this situation, but it still doesn’t make a lot of sense.

The best I can offer is this. I believe that God loves us unconditionally and can do all things. I also believe that everything that happens is an expression of his love. Furthermore, he can always bring good out of evil. The fact that I believe these things, however, doesn’t mean that I understand everything that God does. I don’t.

Somehow, I’m okay with that. It’s frustrating, but I kinda get it. He’s God so he’s supposed to be smarter than me.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
