Kitchen Witchcraft: Crystal Magic
Last updated on: November 13, 2019 at 9:59 pm By Rachel Patterson
This is the third book in my Kitchen Witchcraft series and one that I had wanted to write for a while. As a general rule, I don't use crystals for healing very much (although I am a certified crystal healer, time and other things just got in the way). However, I do use crystals within spell work. Pretty much every spell I work has a crystal involved, even if it is just popping a crystal in front of a candle for candle magic. Read more

Kitchen Witch Bakes for November
Last updated on: November 6, 2019 at 10:46 am By Rachel Patterson
Leading on from the last harvest, November still has a huge abundance of gorgeous produce to work with, but we are winding down now. Preparations are being made for the winter. The weather will also be colder now, the warm summer months seeming so distant. Lots of lovely big hearty meals are the way to go. Here are a couple of my favourites Read more

Magical Bling: Jewellery Witchcraft
Last updated on: October 16, 2019 at 6:28 am By Rachel Patterson
I do like a bit of crystal bling whether in the form of bracelets, pendants, earrings or rings and I even have a brooch or two. The metal that the item is made from carries magical energy and so does any stones that are set into it. Read more

Kitchen Witch: Bakes for October
Last updated on: October 8, 2019 at 5:14 pm By Rachel Patterson
Aside from all the Samhain goodies that will give us all a sugar overdose, foods for this season make me think of big hearty casseroles, home baked bread and stick to your rib puddings. Here are a few of my favourite bakes... Read more

A Doggy Witchcraft Connection Boost
Last updated on: September 9, 2019 at 6:35 pm By Rachel Patterson
I may well be standing in the garden wearing my PJs at 3am waiting for Eric (the dog) to do his business. But it has also allowed me to connect with the moon phase, the stars and the energy of the air around me at a time of night I would not normally see. In the 'still of the night' (musos should be singing now) and it has been very magical. Read more

Breaking a hex, unbinding and removing a curse
Last updated on: August 12, 2019 at 8:03 am By Rachel Patterson
One of the subjects I often get messages about is hexes and curses. Where someone believes they have had a hex placed on them or that their life/family has been cursed. To be honest I think the likelihood of it happening is fairly slim. In my experience it is more often the case that the person has just had a run of bad luck or that they are creating the negative energy themselves. However, either way, you can work some magic to assist in clearing out the gunk... Read more

Music in magic
Last updated on: July 23, 2019 at 3:27 pm By Rachel Patterson
I often see requests on social media about pagan music. The query usually asks “what pagan music do you listen to?”. And there is a huge choice of pagan bands out there (some of my particular favourites are Spriggan Mist, Damh the Bard and Kellianna). But it got me to thinking about music and using it in magic. Because in fact I do, quite a lot. And it doesn’t have to be pagan music. Read more

Sun Magic Abundance Spell
Last updated on: July 4, 2019 at 6:15 pm By Rachel Patterson
Having worked a lot in the past couple of years with sun magic, I realised that it would boost the abundance cheque spell to add in some solar energy. Why had I not thought of this before? I work solar spells all the time! Read more

What Can We Do to Save the Planet?
Last updated on: May 30, 2019 at 10:26 pm By Rachel Patterson
As Pagans, are we more concerned about the state of the planet? Can we do more? I suspect that being as in touch with nature as we are, we perhaps feel it very strongly – humans have infested planet Earth and done as much as we possibly can to destroy her. Mother Nature is suffering. So, what can we do? Read more

Sun Magic: Solar phases, properties and sun altars
Last updated on: May 15, 2019 at 10:23 am By Rachel Patterson
Just like the moon, the sun has phases which can be used to tie in with your magical workings to add an extra boost of power. The sun measures time, where it sits in the sky denotes what time of the day it is, and a sun dial would be quite useless without the sun to cast a shadow! I also think that point between night and day and vice versa, that moment of hand over is quite special. Read more
