Moon Magic for April: Showers, a pink flower moon and an angry egg spell

Drip drop drip little April showers…April can be a bit hit and miss with the weather but it is (usually and hopefully) most definitely spring. Plants are starting to really come alive, the seeds planted at the spring equinox are making good headway and the weather is (she says again hopefully) a bit warmer.
We are working off the back of the spring equinox and heading towards Beltane, everything is alive and buzzing with energy.
I think the equinox always brings about changes of one kind or another (in my experience anyway), it is a time to clear out the old and that which has not worked and to bring in new projects, new ventures and new ways of thinking, make changes that bring in the positive. It is so easy to get caught in a cycle of destructive or unhealthy actions, now is the time to break free (yep I am singing now…). Sometimes we end up taking on too much and finding our entire life is out of balance and it has a ripple effect, like dropping a pebble into a still pool, the ripples from one tiny stone can have a huge affect on everything else. The equinox gives us an opportunity to re-balance and use all the energy that Beltane brings with it to put those changes into action.
Take a step back…take a really good look at your life and see where you can make changes to bring it back into alignment, to give a good balance between work, friends, family, play and ‘you’ time. Even little changes are a start and can lead onto bigger ones.
April herbs:
Basil, chives, dragon’s blood, geranium, thistle, daisy, sweet pea, bay, bergamot, patchouli, allspice, frankincense and fennel.
Colours:
Green, blue, yellow, red, gold

Deities:

Magical energies:
Energy into creating and producing; return balance to the nerves. Change, self-confidence, self-reliance, take advantage of opportunities. Work on temper and emotional flare ups and selfishness. Creating, producing, return to balance, change, self confidence, self reliance and opportunities. Emotions, selfishness, transformation, manifestation, banish stubbornness and clear blockages. Release any past issues.
April moon names:
Growing Moon, Hare Moon, Seed or planting Moon, Planters Moon, and Budding trees Moon, Eastermonath, Ostarmanoth, Pink Moon, Snow Melt Moon, Egg Moon, Frog Moon, Peony Moon, Wild Cat Moon and Green Grass Moon.
Pink Moon – refers to the appearance of wild ground phlox, which has a pink flower.
Angry egg spell
This isn’t a spell to make eggs angry, but to release the anger and frustration we sometimes find ourselves hanging onto. Release the Kraken! Seriously, you will feel much better afterwards. Better to let it all go than allow it to fester ‘coz then things can get really messy.
You will need:
Candle for anger and frustration (black or a dark colour)
Candle for self-worth and self-esteem (pink or yellow perhaps)
Candle for inner peace and clarity (white or pale blue work well)
An egg
You can work this spell indoors but you will need access to outside, somewhere that won’t matter being covered in raw egg. If you are limited for space then it can be worked indoors but use the sink to throw the egg into.
Light the black candle and hold the egg with your fingers wrapped around the pointier end (this is the strongest point on the shell). Focus on the black candle flame and visualise all your anger and frustration flowing from you into the egg. Take as much time as you need, then throw the egg with as much force as you can muster shouting:
Anger and frustration leave me now!
Stand for a moment and allow the emotions to fade, then take some slow, deep breaths. Next make a statement out loud:
I release the anger and the pain and see the end of the frustration reign.
Extinguish the black candle.
When you are feeling calmer light the candle for self-worth and self-esteem and the candle for inner peace and clarity. Watch the flames burn together side by side and say:
May the anger now be gone
The frustration and fear at an end
Calm, peace and self-worth to mend
I trust the anger to never return
Allow the two candles to burn out.
