It’s not easy to live the times we’re living in. How much more for the children who are now growing up? What kind of world is waiting for them? How should we equip them to face the years ahead?

Let Us Give Them a Godly Home

We need not look far when we think about our children. Because the first thing that we could help them with is to provide them a home they can turn to, a refuge that feels safe when everything else seems dark.

Let us give them a home where someone is always ready to listen to them. A home that welcomes them with open arms.

At the end of the day, let our homes be beacons of light calling them to return:

“You are safe here. In here, you will always be loved.”

Let Us Teach Them What’s Important In Life

The world can entice our children to value fleeting pleasures and amusements. It can try to persuade them that unless you get this or that, you can’t be successful in life.

Let us teach them instead what’s precious and eternal.

Rather than placing their hearts on certain luxuries and status symbols, they can value true friendships, family ties and their relationship with the Lord.

Instead of pursuing momentary popularity, they can pursue virtue and acts of service to others.

And while the rest of the world tells them to feel good only after achieving certain milestones or rewards, let them be confident of their dignity as human beings created in the image and likeness of God.

Let us raise them for a life of purpose while reminding them that even in defeat, they can still rise again. Even in apparent failure, their worth is never diminished nor are they less loved.

Let Us Teach Them That God is Our Hope

The most important thing we can pass on to our children is our faith in God. If they can believe in Him, they will never lose hope even in the most difficult times.

Even the best of people can fail them. They can even feel that they have failed themselves. But with God, there is always hope.

Let us teach them that God is the One Friend they can depend on, and that One Love that will never fail.

God can see their innermost thoughts and hear the deepest cries of their hearts. He sees their full potential and yet gives room for their shortcomings.

Let us teach them about Jesus and His merciful heart, a heart that will never refuse even the greatest sinner for as long as he comes with repentance and trust.

The world may break their hearts, but God will always be there to heal.

Let the children know that God is their strength and their light. In times when they are afraid, they are not alone. When they are confused, He can guide their thoughts and show them the right path.

Let Us Show Them a Good Example

Sometimes, the best way to teach is not through words alone but through our actions.

Let us teach the children through the witness of living Godly lives.

Show them how to handle challenges. Be an example of patience, wisdom and strength.

Let the children see how you pray and how you make God an important part of your own life.

If we can make our lives shine with God’s light, all the world will see, including our children.

Entrusting The Children To Jesus

Jesus invited the children to come to Him. He wanted them to draw close, to be in His company.

Let us not prevent them from doing so. But let us be the ones to bring them to Him.

These are turbulent times, but God tells us not to be afraid.

Darkness may threaten our days, but God’s light will save us and our children. In Him we take refuge and in Him we trust.

Lord, please protect the children. Let them come to you and let no one take them away. Amen.

“Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14 (NABRE)
