Just now, as I was signing into my blog, I noticed that it is the 21st of June and I have only 11 posts up this month. I am feeling properly ashamed of myself for being such a finicky blogger this month. This week is the last week that the Ogre will be with us before he goes back to Las Vegas, so I’ll be spending lots of time with him, but next week I’ll begin settling myself and the kids into a routine out here, and blogging will become a regular thing again. At last. (How many times have I said that now? But this time I mean it.)
Anyway, thanks for all the link-love on Saturday, y’all! Really. The show went much better. We did not reach our sales goal, but we were pleased with the way the weekend went and we have high hopes for this little endeavor. Many of you have emailed me or commented that you would love to buy some pieces once we get an online shop set up. That is what I am focusing on for the next few weeks (among other things!). I hope to have the shop set up within the month, but I do have one other thing on my plate that takes precedence above all else, so it may be August before the site is up and running. Regardless, I will let you know when it is. For now, I will continue to put up pictures here of individual pieces as I get them (my sister-in-law is still working on the editing), and if you see something you just can’t live without, send me an email. I’ll get you the price and let you know what shipping will cost, and if you still want it I’ll make you one!
Oh, guess who came to our show on Saturday? The lovely Charlotte of Waltzing Matilda! It was so sweet of her to come at the last minute, in response to my pathetic post, and to post the info on her blog! I really enjoyed meeting her and talking with her. She bought a few things and I delivered one of them to her home yesterday and was briefly introduced to her family. She has some seriously beautiful children! I’m really happy to be back in the proximity of such solid families. Between my UD connections who still live here, the fabulous children of my amazing godparents, my brothers-and-sisters-in-law, my own family, and new friends like Charlotte who I’ve met through the blogosphere, I’m feeling a lot less anxious about being separated from my Ogre. It will still be hard, but if the last few weeks have been any indication, we’ll be so stinking busy that I’ll hardly have time to catch my breath before it’s December and he’s back with us again.
At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
Oh, guess what else! For the first time in my life, I effortlessly lost five pounds this week. I kid you not. This has never happened to me before. But between the late nights of furious jewelry making, the fact that I’ve barely eaten because I simply haven’t had time, and the soul-crushing stress that accompanied our show this weekend, I found my jeans falling off of me yesterday.
And then I promptly ate a Cadbury chocolate bar to celebrate.
That’s just how I roll.
Not that the Cadbury bar is going to settle on me in this heat. I forgot what Texas in the summer feels like until today, when I walked outside and promptly melted into a sweaty puddle of yuck. I was really glad that I hadn’t taken the time to shower, because it would have been an exercise in futility. What is it with Texas? It so humid here that you may as well wear a bathing suit all the time, cause you’re gonna be soaked through unless you’re holed up in the air conditioning. Jeez. I did not miss the humidity.
Nor did I miss the mosquitoes.
And I know this post is really short, but Charlotte has not gotten used to the massive influx of new faces surrounding her and dissolves into tears every time I leave the room, so I must go rescue my mother-in-law from the never-ending-wailing.
Thanks for being patient with my erratic posting of late. This transition time will not last forever! I mean, it better not, cause I can’t handle it.
