How to Make this Year a More INTENTIONAL One and Your BEST Yet 2019-01-12T12:08:25-04:00 Ashley Willis

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

  1. Don’t forget about yourself in the process!

One area that I often overlook is the importance of being intentional about myself. Even writing this makes me cringe a little. We all know that person who is self-absorbed and we try our best to avoid being that. But, so many times, we get busy trying to make things happen that we don’t spend time growing and developing ourselves. Whether it is taking care of your responsibilities or trying to keep your kids alive or getting food on the table, we burn ourselves out just trying to get everything done and battle the guilt of doing something for ourselves. We get caught up in the doing and miss the fact that we are depleting ourselves. What I learned is that when my tank is empty, no one in my life gets my best.

I had to take a hard look at what was draining me in my life and give those things up. Some things are impossible to give up… like laundry… why is there so much laundry?? But, in the every area I could, I found ways to get rid of the things that depleted me. There was that one day years ago when you got your hair done and a pedicure and it was the BEST.DAY.EVER. What are those things and how can you be intentional about fitting them into your schedule? And when you do that thing that recharges you, f feel good about it! Don’t live in guilt over it. You deserve it! When your “battery” is full, it will amaze you how different your interactions with the people around you will be. So, how can you make this happen for you this year? Well, I want to share a unique tool with you that has helped me, and I believe it will help you too…
