My husband, Dave, played an instrumental role in my recovery.  He NEVER told me to “snap out of it”.  He would listen to me talk about my feelings for hours on end.  He prayed with me constantly and would remind me of the truth of God’s Word.  He helped me to find a good counselor and showed me great compassion during the many nights I would cry myself to sleep.

I am so extremely grateful for his prayers and words of affirmation.  I honestly don’t know if I would have been able to recover without them.  I found such comfort in knowing that he would pray with me anytime I asked him to, and I knew that he was praying for me throughout the day as well.  I could feel it, and I desperately needed it.

If your spouse is struggling with anxiety, don’t underestimate the power of prayer.  Be quick to pray with and for your spouse at any time.  Reassure him/her that you are by his/her side through all of this.

If you aren’t sure where to start when it comes to praying for your spouse, my new anxiety devotional, 31 Verses and Prayers for the Anxious Mind and Heart, might be a good place to start.  You can find out more about it HERE.
