It creates a toxic dynamic between a husband and wife.

3.  It creates a toxic dynamic between a husband and wife.

When we give each other demands and threats, we fall into a toxic “tit-for-tat” game that neither of us can win.  Scenarios such as, “I’ll have sex with you only after you do THIS,” or “If you don’t do THIS, I’m leaving you.”  This negative dynamic leads to score-keeping and unrealistic expectations–both of which are marriage-killers.

So, what are we supposed to do INSTEAD of ultimatums?

We talk.  We break down the walls by being honest and transparent with one another.  We get help when we need it.  We seek forgiveness, and we accept apologies to allow trust to be rebuilt.

We work through it.

We do whatever it takes to get back on the same page of love and respect for one another.  And, we see each day together as an amazing opportunity to strengthen our marriage and family.

If you and your spouse are struggling right now, please know that there is hope in restoring your marriage.  We’d love to help.  Go to Fighting for my Marriage, for 3 free videos and more information on our full online program.

Also, we’d love to speak at your next LIVE event.  Please go to my Speaking Page for more information and to see us/me speaking to a live audience.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and responding.  Be blessed!
