4. Be open and honest with one another.
This is the hardest one, but it is also the most important. Our marriage will only grow as deep as our vulnerability towards each other. And, this can only happen when we are completely honest and open with one another.
No secrets.
No “I’ll tell him/her that if it becomes necessary.”
No “What he/she doesn’t know won’t kill him/her.”
If we’re going to have an open line of communication and closeness in our marriage, then we have to be willing to put it all on the table AND be willing to embrace everything that our spouse puts on the table as well. And, if the truth hurts, then we seek out the help that we need to address any issues we are facing. We talk through it until we find a solution together.
When we approach communication with an open heart and honest words, we will make great strides in cultivating the strong, vibrant, and connected marriage that we desire.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and commenting. I’d love to connect with you on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
